A comprehensive supplement to your physics textbook
The Schaum’s Outline of College Physics was a recommended reading for the Physics I and Physics II courses at the local university. While the primary physics textbook analyzed each of the main topics/theories within physics, from Newton’s laws to thermodynamics, per the scope/requirements of the classes, there was a lack of practice problems, examples, and/or in-depth solutions provided for the purposes of practical application of the lessons taught. Comparatively, Schaum’s book, within each chapter, takes a look at the theory in question, provides the applicable equations and example problems with their solutions, and additional problems for you to attempt to solve without seeing the steps involved. I personally carried over this study plan, using a textbook and a supplemental practice book such as Schaum’s book, for my courses in statistics. Definitely a good, useful purchase for making it through college level physics.

Great Grade Booster
I bought this because I have been struggling in my Physics w/ Calculus course at my university. Quite simply, after purchasing this guide and studying it for a good hour or two before the exam (I had neither gone to class recently nor done the homework for weeks) my grade on the test was the avg grade for the class: 74%. I am fairly convinced that without this guide I would have failed miserably. The examples in the book are extremely helpful and correlate almost exactly to the examples that my teacher routinely uses and draws upon. Without a doubt, for the current price you cannot beat this deal. The increase in productivity is amazing compared to simply studying a standard textbook.

Simple & Easy To Understand
Basic outline of college physics. The cover says what this book is. Very easy top understand and follow. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for something basic and not to overwhelming to learn college level physics concepts.

Great as an adjunct to class
This is a great practice-problem book to supplement your class work. I would not recommend it if you are not taking or have not taken a class previously. I give it four stars rather than five because I personally found that some solutions could have used a wee bit more explanation.

All you need for Intro or AP Physics
I have a BSc and a lot of graduate work in Physics so when I started home schooling my son for the AP Physics B exam I got some standard texts - Sears and Zemansky (11th edition), and Giancoli, and some AP study guides - and Schaum's. I gave up on the others and am sticking with Schaum's. My son is working hard but getting it. I know from having tried them early on that he would have had no chance with the expensive standard texts or the study guides alone. The way to do Physics is to do Physics and that means solving problems, seeing how to solve problems, and then solving more problems. All the pretty pictures and clever "aids" are useless. Problems, problems, problems. Then more problems. See a pattern here? This has a lot of problems, many are worked out in detail, and then problems like those are given with just the answers. After we finish this we will work on the the study guides which look useful, just 'sketchy' on the basics - they are only review books, after all.Even if you are in a calculus-based physics class, Schaum's will answer 80%-90% of your homework questions. You could probably get a A or B+ in a calc-based class with just this book alone. The Schaum's outline series books in math got me through an MA program in Math at University of Wisconsin. Now I wonder why the other texts even bother.

Love it!
This is a classic. I use it in my high school class in order that the students encounter what they know to be actual college-level material. I purchased Schaum's Outlines as a college student, and I even had a couple of classes in which they were required. I am old school, but those who skim the internet for hours looking for examples that are actually helpful would do well to purchase one of the books in the SOS series.

Great book. This one helped me get through 3 physics courses. The book includes just about every topic you would expect to see in a non-calculus based physics course. You can use it for calc based courses, like I did, but expect it to be missing concepts.
