Good CD.
I have been hearing Natalias voice for quite sometime being a Thievery and Fredrico fan and I have always liked it. This cd is solid, nice production but the flow is a little choppy. I am sure he next cd will be better but this one is really good.

Natalia Clavier – Nectar
Natalia Clavier, longtime collaborator of the Thievery Corporations, steps out on her own with NECTAR. Though you can hear their influence in the scratches and chunky hip-hop beats of "El Árbol," Clavier's vocals help the track soar. The light dub elements on "Azul" are colored by her voice, and she brings an ache to "Ay De Mi." Her vocals are given a spotlight on "Confusión," accompanied only by a piano, strings and minimal percussion. Indeed, her South American heritage suffuses the album with a smoothness, even when it goes off in different directions, like the marching "Tu Que Pueded Vuélvete" or the dreamier title track. It's a pleasant listen on an album full of pleasant listens.

A sultry mix of latin and trip hop music
Last year I discovered Natalia Clavier through Myspace. I had never heard of her and I really haven't heard much of Thievery Corporation's music (a group she has collaborates with quite often). I was immediately hooked into her brand of latin fused trip hop music when I heard samples of her music. For some odd reason it took me awhile to finally get around to buying her album NECTAR. I wish I hadn't procrastinated so long in buying the album. NECTAR is a charming fusion of traditional and modern music. I find the album very comforting to listen to when I get home from the office. The music is mellow but never boring. Natalia's vocals are very sensuous. They remind me of ex-Olive singer Ruth-Ann. I normally do not listen or enjoy latin music but I really dug Natalia's music, probably because the latin melodies is fused with modern trip hop beats. I enjoyed all twelve tracks of the album even if I didn't understand what Natalia was singing. I especially enjoyed the melodies on "Confusion", "Simple", "Nectar", and "Tiempo". I am so glad that I finally got around to buying NECTAR. It truly made me a fan of Natalia Clavier's music. I definitely recommend checking this album out.

Nectar so sweet
Exquisite vocals and melodies from the modern face of Thievery Corporation. She deserves more exposure for her own work. This is as good as getting a second disc of "Saudade", the current Thievery album.

Possibly the most sultry voice ever
You probably don't know the name, but you may recognize the voice, as she supplies vocals for most of the best tracks on Federico Aubele's "Panamericana," including the haunting "Maria Jose." Don't expect the same kind of guitar work here; her own music is a little more trip hop, ambient, perhaps even ultralounge, but with a distinct Latin flavor. Clavier could sing almost anything, though, and make it sound good. Her voice is a soothing aural pillow, only it won't put you to sleep! You will want to wrap yourself up in sound of her mellifluous voice time and again. Now, if only I understood the lyrics!

Dubbed out sound of Argentina
This is produced by Federico Aubele and Eric Hilton (one half of Thievery Corporation), so if you know the Aubele albums and the Thievery sound, this is very much out of the same bag. If you don't, think tango-flavoured downbeat grooves with an undercurrent of tight dub bass, a nice line in Spanish guitar, a sprinkling of echo and effects, and some really nice Spanish vocals. Natalia's got a slightly haunting edge to her vocals, with the same warmth and fragility as, say, Emiliana Torrini. She contributed to a few of the tracks on Federico Aubele's two albums, and if you were to create a playlist of this album and his second album, you'd be hard pressed to say which tracks come from which albums - they're all very much from the same stable. Which is no bad thing. The production isn't as polished as some of the recent, less memorable Latin crossover stuff that's found an audience over here - Bebel Gilberto's last couple of albums spring to mind; they're by no means bad, but they're just too sunny and polished for my liking. There's more substance to this, more depth and emotion in the vocals, less reliance on harmonies. In fact, next to Bebel Gilberto's stuff this might sound a little raw and under-produced, but I think it gains something special from that - a sort of softening around the edges, that makes it seem more real, as though the lyrics came first and the music was then crafted to fit, whereas a lot of modern Latin crossover stuff sounds like the lyrics are an afterthought or are just there to show off the vocalist's range.Perfect for after-hours gatherings, and just as good in the background at a barbeque with friends, this will appeal as much to the fan of the shuffling beat as it does to the Latin lovers out there.
