Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge sees Hanzo Hasashi (aka. Scorpion) lose his clan, family, and his life during an attack by a rival ninja clan. He is given the chance to compete in an interdimensional tournament to save his loved ones while other fighters try to save the Earth realm from annihilation.Based on the iconic video game franchise of the title, the story is a retelling of the story seen in Mortal Kombat 9 with more of an emphasis on the story of the franchise’s most iconic character Scorpion. Due to this retelling the story isn’t over convoluted with franchise lore and terminology, it’s straight forward, easy to follow whilst including various Easter eggs, characters (though not name dropped all the time) that fans will appreciate. That being said at a short run time of 1 hour 20 minutes it is a bit thin in plot and character focus and development and it speeds along which means narrative aspects and even the fights themselves feel rushed at times. Visually the film has an impressive and well suited animation style that changes stylistic approach depending on the location or action sequence, utilising the familiar animation style of the DC films whilst also incorporating elements of manga and anime. The main selling point here is the violence and holy hell does this deliver. I can guarantee that no fan of the franchise will be disappointed in the sheer amount of savagery that is displayed on screen here, that at times puts the games themselves to shames. Limbs are sliced and torn off, decapitations are constant and faces are pummelled I’m leaving nothing but blood and brain remains. X-ray moves are brought in for a creative edge to the already visceral and well choreographed fights as well as recognisable character move sets and fatalities. The voice acting is strong here and they are all accurate to the characters, considering only Jax (Ike Amandi) is voiced by his main video game actor. Patrick Seitz captures Scorpion’s rage and bitterness perfectly and nails the character’s iconic lines. Jennifer Carpenter is a commanding Sonya Blade and Joel McHale is suitably obnoxious and cocky as Johnny Cage.Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge delivers exactly what fans want from an animated (or any adaptation) and is a blast. Truly vicious, bloody and chaotic action and carnage, with a bold animation style and well voice acted characters. Though it could have been a bit longer and had some more substance to the story this is undoubtedly the best video game based film and I hope we see a follow up. The 2021 live action film has a challenge to live up to this.

Get over here!!!!
Whenever I see the Mortal Kombat logo on a movie or game I expect bloody brutally. With a name like Scorpion's Revenge I expected to go up a notch especially what they can get away with in an animated movie. This movie lives up to every expectation and exceeds it.Though this set in the backdrop of the Mortal Kombat tournament, ant there another classic and main characters there this is Scorpion's movie. The fights are bloody, brutal and fatal. As soon as it was over I already eant the sequel. It is so awsome to have a movie that lives up to the hype.

Good thoughtful action movie
Haven’t watched any mortal Kim at in years. This had everything, action and fun. Some parts a little over the top but in animation that’s a good thing.

MORTAL KOMBATTT!
I absolutely loved this film, it was everything I expected and more. Including plenty of gore, cool fight scenes and a nice twist at the end. I found it more enjoyable than the newest live action movie. If you don’t mind buying it digitally then I expect it will be higher quality than the dvd version

Wow! Very gory!
I remember going to see the first Mortal Combat at the cinema back in the day. I haven't really followed the franchise, but I bought Scorpion's Revenge as it sounded good. Also, I have a lot of WB dvd due to my love of anything in a cape and DC. Well, this animated movie is certainly different. I wasn't quite prepared for the high level of gore and evisceration that goes on. It seems to be the big appeal to not just knock your opponent out, but to cleave their entire body in two. That seemed to be the main thrust of the story. There were a lot of heads with spinal cords attached. Not that I'm squeamish, but I hadn't anticipated it would be so full-on. Looking at the rating, it is 18, but I would suggest you don't buy a small child this as it may give them nightmares. Good story once things get going and the animation is 1st class. I can't have been put off entirely as I have now bought the next DVD. I am guessing more people will have their heads removed in this one as well.

Scorpion too OP
Being a huge fan of MK franchise since its debut - the fights were good, the characters were true to themselves in characterisation and the original plot unfolded as in the game...well; sort of.My big issue in this film was how rushed it was (which is normal considering the running time). If it was in a series format the fights, characters and the lore could've been explored a lot more. My other issue is how *SPOILER* Liu Kang is ridiculously weak and loses to Goro which makes 0 sense. Also, Liu Kang seems to not being able to compete against Scorpion in a fight - that's also a big no no. Then, we got Sub Zero (Bi Han) who is weak; really really weak. In the original story, Scorpion doesn't get killed by Quan Chi...and Bi Han beats Hanzo 1v1 before ripping his spine out. It was not, "get on your knees so I'm gonna kill you easy because you're too strong." It was a fight and Hanzo lost. Then obviously we had the 1v1 Bi han vs Scorpion in the MK tournament etc...*Spoiler end*As I say, it's a good film, the fights are good etc...just A LOT of Scorpion being the best thrown out in this film, and it looks more like a fan made rather than an actual retelling of MK1 through Scorpion's perception and character. Maybe it was a fanfic and that was the whole point of the film and I'm the one who missed it.
