A near-fatal traffic accident sends 19-year old Kyosuke Kasuga three years forward in time, where he is presumed missing and dead. It's a race against time to find the missing 22-year old Kyosuke and return the 19-year old version back in time before he dies. To make matters worse, can he stary true to his beloved from the past after meeting the vivacious Hikaru, from the future?

A Good Stand Alone Movie if you haven't seen the series
I've never watch the full series of Kimagure Orange Road (48 episodes plus 3 OVAs....I think) but this movie is really good. I didn't quite understand when I first saw it back in 2004 when I was 13 (I watched the 2001 ADV release, but this is the same movie, just a re-release) but after watching it again last year, I understood it and it made me want to watch the series. This is a great anime film even if you've never seen the series. I highly recommend this movie to any anime fan who enjoys a romantic drama that's good for guys and girls. I just wish they dubbed the anime in English but I guess I'll have to make do with reading subtitles, at least this movie is dubbed in English. Thank You ADV!!! (Even though you went out of business.) :(

'Summer's Beginning'? or Orange Road's End...?
It's a shame that this movie is my first look at 'Kimagure Orange Road',a romantic comedy/drama series with a mild sci-fi twist(think 'Archie' with ESPers) that was popular in Japan during the 1980's,as this movie seems to give closure to the series, particularly in whom our hero decides to settle down with. As the TV anime series is not readily available, I doubt I'll be watching it anytime soon,so I have no idea whether or not he makes the 'best' pick of the two girls(both seem like good catches).I bought this because it features Yuki Kajiura's first anime movie soundtrack(which is quite good--see my review for it elsewhere),and I wanted to see how well the score complemented the film(works fine). From an art/animation standpoint,it shows signs of a higher budget than a TV episode gets, but it's also emulating the art-style of the '80s series, making it look older than its 1996 release date. I liked it as a movie, and am now more curious about the series that spawned it.

A nice upbeat final OAV for the series.
First, I should let you know that the DVD I bought had a different cover. Same movie, however. If you have watched all the TV episodes, the other OAVs, and the final movie for KOR (I want to return to that day--the inevitable and heartrendingly beautiful/painful resolution of the love triangle), you very likely have as much love for the series as I do, and can overlook (or embrace) the occasional bits of cheesy silliness that were present in all of KOR except the final movie, instead submersing yourself in the true beauty and sweetness of the series. This OAV (which is NOT part of a new series. It's called "new" to show that it comes AFTER "I want to return to that day") has the cheese, and has the sweetness and fun, just like the other OAVs did.Although I believe this OAV could stand alone, I think it is much better suited to be watched after someone's seen a good portion of the TV episodes, one or two OAVs, and absolutely the Final Movie (which is, IMO, stunningly good.)This OAV makes a good postscript to the series by showing not only that life and joy and friendship go on, but also showing how they went on in the lives of the characters we've come to love. I'd give it five stars, but not for anyone watching it without having seen the series, so I'm leaving it at four.

A great finale to a great anime series.
This film serves as the conclusion to the entire series. When Kyosuke awakens from a coma from a traffic accident three years later, his life begins to fall apart and his relationship with Madoka begins to falter, and when Hikaru enters the picture again, what will happen next?

I saw this anime long ago and bought it for nostalgia reasons.

KOR Ends
I always enjoyed the KOR series (about 20 years ago). This is a relatively fitting end to the series, but it shows its age.

Revisit Orange Road.
Back In the early 90's when I Started my anime collection. This one of the series. I felled in love with. Now With this movie. I have the whole series on Dvd. I even have all the soundtrack. One thing I was most gratful for was they never Dub. Until New Kimagure Orange road; Summer's Beginning. Because of this, it was the only reason I couldn't give it 5 star's but I enjoyed the Movie. But you must watch the Ova and tv part first.Over-all One of the Best Teenage romance series on the market.Dayru

One of my favs!
This movie is one of my all time favorite anime movies. The animation is great and so is the story line. I would definitely recommend this to someone who likes anime and even if you don't like anime, it still has a great storyline!
