Tub Spout Threads to 1/2 inch IPS, 5-1/4 inch Length, Chrome Finish

Seller states "The galvanized pipe (nipple) length should be 4” - 4-3/8” to avoid the gap between the wall and the edge of the spout." Wrong! Since there is no adjustability built into the spout, it will fit just one length. If it fits flush to the wall with a 4" nipple, a 4-3/8 nipple will have a 3/8" gap at the back. See photos posted by by reviewer Lisa and others.Seller states that the spout is not for use with copper pipe. Why not? Since the spout is made from stainless steel, galvanic corrosion should not be a problem in this application. What the seller probably meant is that the spout is made to engage with a 1/2" IPS/NPT (Iron Pipe Size or National Pipe Thread) fitting rather than a soldered connection. My pipe is copper, with a 1/2" male NPT thread adapter soldered on the end, and it fits just fine, except for the length.

Looks great but material is a little thin so you have to watch not to damage.Also the spout uses a plastic connector to connect to the pipe nipple so I used another 1/2” nipple to make sure the threads were good. If you cross thread it you have to get another spout, can’t get just the plastic connector so be carful .This is my third replacement over 20 years and I use a good wax on it to help protect it, I have hard water and it really helps keeping it looking good and keeping the deposits from building up.

Excellent product. Too many home stores sell the 'universal' version of this that actually has a 3/4 inch thread and a bushing to make it 1/2 inch if that is what you have. Problem is that the bushing pushes the spout out from the wall leaving a large ( 1/4 inch ) gap that has to be caulked. This is a true 1/2 inch thread - clean up the thread on the pipe from the wall, a little teflon tape and wind it on. I did have to use a strap wrench to complete the final turn but it snugs up nice and tight to the tile, just like the one I took of did. Highly recommended if you don't have a true plumbing supply house to go to.

Ordered it as a replacement for the tub spout that disappeared during my bathroom remodeling. Matched the fixtures perfectly and was easy to install. Even came with a cloth to shine the fixture after installation
