But a surprise attack from the Empire's revived leader forces them to recruit a street fighter named Go Ichimonji as Getter One's pilot. Getter go!!!
Needed to get this to the getter ovas all together. I think I have 2 more to get to complete my collection. This movie was awesome. Seeing the old and new generation of getter teams work together was great. And Seeing these movies is where the information about the series is where it's coming from. Made this a must have.

English dub tho???
It’s awesome! But I’m confused on the listing info. Is there an English Dub or not??? My version didn’t come with one.

Good Getter story and great OP and ED
Its a good Getter story! Fun times and Go is cool. The blu ray is good but there's no episode selection and it goes from one episode to the next. Wish there were extras too

Very Shallow
Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo followers in a long line of Getter Robo anime and manga dating all the way back to 1974. My experience with Getter Robo includes Armageddon and New Getter Robo, which at this point is about all that’s available in the west. I reviewed New Getter Robo and gave it three out of five stars and found Armageddon underwhelming. The series certainly has longevity although I don’t see anything new since New Getter Robo in 2004 so maybe Getter Robo’s time has come and gone. This interation was released in 4 installments in 2000 and 2001.As far as I can tell, Shin Getter Robo is intended to be the original Getter Robo from the first series and Neo Getter Robo is the robot from the sequel, Getter Robo Go. I consider the Original red and white Getter Robo with cat ears to be one of the most iconic of all the classic Japanese robots and Getter Robo Go, not so much. Shin Getter Robo doesn’t put in an appearance until halfway through episode three and the two never fight. The pilots basically swap Neo for Shin since Shin is clearly the superior of the two.The problem with Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo is the same problem I have with Armageddon and New Getter Robo, there basically is no plot and practically zero character development. It’s almost entirely one long boss fight. The Reptilian Empire, led by King Gore, are trying to take revenge on humanity for supplanting them. They attack, and pretty much obliterate Getter Robo’s base and the fight is on. As always, there are Getter Rays and a lot of shouting and aggression and fighting. If that’s all you want then this collection will satisfy you.The listed running time is 2 hours but it’s actually more like 100 minutes and if you strip out opening and closing credits and previews of the next episode it’s more like 80 minutes. It also uses only subtitles, which doesn’t bother me, but is a dealbreaker for some people. This is the most barebones collection. There is no menu and it simply launches into “Change 1” [episode 1] when you pop in the disk. I don’t regret getting this collection but there is certainly a massive amount of better stuff out there in this genre.

Not Enough High Power, Man!
Five years ago, the Getter Robo put to rest the evil plans of the Dinosaur Empire. Now, they've returned and a new team is formed to fight them. But, is it enough? Or will a weapon from the past be mankind's biggest chance for survival.Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo is the second of three OVAs made based on the Getter Robo franchise (following Getter Robo Armageddon and followed by New Getter Robo), but it wasn't until recently that the series finally crossed over to the States, giving everyone a chance to see all three OVAs based off of the first combining giant robot. The series is amazingly short - 4 30-minute episodes compared to the 13 in Armageddon and New. Thus, the series blazes across all of its major points in record time - introducing the first titular robot (Neo Getter), introducing the ham-tacular Jack King (and his sister, Mary, and their robot, the Texas Mack), bringing in the second titular robot (Shin Getter), and the big final battle. If you were looking for something more to the story, this one isn't it. If you're looking for mindless fun, give it a try.The DVD is, sadly, incredibly BARE. It's just the episodes and the subtitles. They don't include any ads for any of Discotek's other videos and, sadly, the three shorts starring creator Go Nagai's legendary super robots (from the Mazinger-Z to Mazinkaiser) is not included in this as well, as it was this series was what introduced them (and lead to the Mazinkaiser OVA series a year or so later).Again, if you're looking for some mindless fun, go for it. If not, maybe it's time to go poke Discotek and tell them to give you that TOO MUCH HIGH POWER!

Neo Getter vs Shin Getter is like a roller coaster
Neo Getter vs Shin Getter is like a roller coaster. The first half takes you up high then the 2nd half makes you feel like there should have been more story which they, did in the Super Robot Wars game series. It just felt like it was too short. The good point is that they did their best to focus on the new Getter team....then again.....the ending felt rushed for an OVA series that gave you the feeling that it was going to be longer.

A Fun Super Robot Anime
I'm a pretty big fan of the Getter Robo series but I'll sum up this one as simply as I can. It's a re imagining of Getter Robo comics that keeps the high energy and dynamic violence of the source material but is a a stand alone story that follows a familiar theme of an evil force trying to take over the world, and only the Getter team can stop them. I'd recommend it for teens that like big robots fighting monsters. It's short but you could watch it all in one sitting like a movie. English subtitles only so bear that in mind if don't enjoy reading.Out of other animations in this Universe this set is short but has high quality animation in fight scenes and has a sense of humor. I think it's a good gateway into the series, but it other DVDs are out of print and much harder to find. This is the most affordable release right now until the others get picked up and re printed.
