Truly soft. Marginally thicker/heavier than a “beefy-T” t-shirt. It really feels good on your skin. Says, “machine washable”. NUTS! Hand wash this using your shampoo. If you don’t yank on the material it could last a really long time. About as warm as a ‘poly’ sweatshirt but not clammy during activity. I bet wearing this under a polyester flannel shirt with a hard shell would get you by most dodgy weather.More about which, later.

First of all, a hooded lightweight merino wool base layer is one of my goldilocks outdoor pieces. Biking, running, skiing, etc... it's a go to staple. They are getting a little hard to find, and are usually expensive. Enter Meriwool, cause dang, at 54 bucks this is a steal. Very soft and good fit once you get past the sizing. I almost always wear a medium base layer but had to bump up all the way to a large. Bought a small for my son and liked it so much I bought an M for me, but it fit the exact same as a small(?). Who cares, though? Well made, soft, good fit, fifty four bucks?? I am buying two more and hopefully they will last until I die! :-)

I am 6'2", 225 and the XL fits like some American made size medium shirts do.That said, I still love this as a base layer for snowboarding and other cold weather activities.

Mariwool makes fantastic, high quality fabrics and products. I will lay the blame upon myself because it is labeled as a "base layer", but I had hoped it would be basically a wool zip-up hoodie. What it actually is, is a very thin, zippered (long sleeve) wool t-shirt. I have Meriwool base layers TWICE as thick as this item. Although it is pictured as an outer layer, do not make the mistake I made. It is NOT a wool hoody.

Used this 10 days on a mountaineering expedition. Worked amazingly well, kept me warm even while sweating and in 0' F.Sadly after coming back from the trip and gentle washing, I saw some holes open up in the shirt. I don't know if it's a defective piece or just not great for multiple use. However found it great value for money.

I usually wear medium. 5'9" athletic build. Based on other reviews I ordered large. Fits perfect, same as a medium in other clothing. If you order your usual size it will feel like a slim fitting body contour rash guard style.

Lightweight. Like a second skin. Very stylish. Made a fantastic Christmas gift for my son.

Love the fit, feel, quality and design of this hoodie, plus its wool so you can wear it daily and as long as you let it air out a bit doesn't stink. Great value!
