New Testament and Psalms

So wonderful to read and full of additional beauty -- the see through is not that bad, really. If you are bothered too much, just fold a white piece of paper and place it behind the page when you read. I did not find the pages too annoying, at all. I am picky, too. But the quality of this edition is about as good as it gets. If you don't like it, you can always return it. Be Blessed and add this to your pile of books -- you'll be very pleased, I'm sure.

I am really happy with my purchase. It's a beautiful book. I know I will get a lot of use out of it. I noticed that a number of reviews complain about the pages being see through or transparent. This is true. It's printed on whatever you want to call it: vellum, tissue, Bible paper, or just very thin paper. This is not unusual and I have a several Bibles like this. For me, it's not a problem. There is something charming about a Bible being printed on Bible paper. So I like it.

I was excited to receive this New Testament and it is well planned and beautifully laid out.The binding is extremely nice. The book feels nice in the hands. BUT, and this is a big but, the pages are so thin that the print on the other side shows through. This is especially troublesome when going through the notes as the font is very small. I cannot read this in dim light, say church for Holy Hours or visits to the Blessed Sacrament. As a little aside, I really like the notes and the cross references on the same page as the text. It's just easier, like footnotes at the bottom of the page in a science text. A bit more space between the lines wouldn't hurt either.

This is a quality resource and well made New Testament. Two ribbons & not glued together. Enjoyable notes & introductions. Although the complaints about ghosting are certainly justifiable, considering the price point and the quality of the binding, plus the excellent translation one should consider the trade offs. If ghosting (which is definitely very very evident) bothers you, do not buy. If you are like me & willing to put up with it for a thinner book, then this is a bargain. I am not Roman Catholic, but enjoy a good publication if well done. The notes are enlightening even if behind recent scholarly thought in some introductions. However, scholarly opinion shifts continually. Conclusion: the main objection is the ghosting. Yet, this can be overlooked, especially in good light. The positive: well made and good value.

The Sisters have done a beautiful job in creating and publishing this New Testament/Psalms of the NABRE. It is very light and comfortable to carry and hold. The print is very easy and comfortable for my 67 year old eyes. The introduction to each book is in front of the appropriate book with the notes placed behind each book Even though the font size of the notes are small I can still read them without straining. Of course I see this particular Bible as primarily a reading Bible. One important point is that this bible is SINGLE PAGE EVEN THE PSALMS. NO COLUMNS. Pages are a cream color with gilded pages and 2 ribbons. There are two appendices. Appendix A is how to pray with Scripture and how to practice Lectio. There are listings of Jesus' Miracles and Parables. A brief selection of words of comfort and reflection themes. These are followed by Appendix B which informs how to Pray with the Psalms. My favorite is a listing of Psalms for various Occasions and Needs. Reading the Psalms daily for years it is still nice to have a listing of appropriate Psalms when we are in certain states of emotion or need.Overall I am impressed with this volume and it will be used daily--following Our Holy Fathers request to read the Gospels daily.

This New Testament is a thing of beauty and a pleasure to read and hold. The cream-colored pages seem to be easy on my eyes. Other customers complained about "ghosting" or the print seeping through from the other page. I did not find this a problem. Well, perhaps it does bleed through a little (as in many Bibles) but it certainly isn't a problem. Well done, Daughters of St. Paul!

Beautiful bible worth every Penny❤️

The book is physically nice. I like the binding, the material, the size of the book, and the font. Unfortunately, I can barely read the passages because of how bad the ghosting is. I am really disappointed in this, because it is such a nice bible otherwise
