3M Personal Protective Equipment Particulate Respirator 8271, P95

It took a while to get used to the work I had to do to inhale through the material, however, this is a very good mask. I live in the middle of Mustard Pollen Heaven right now. It was announced that this year was THE WORST pollen season in known history and nothing was alleviating allergy symptoms for sufferers. My problem is that I can't take antihistamines or nasal steroids. But as long as I wear this mask when I leave my home, I have been doing well based on how touchy my lungs are... which has been minimal. If it is hot outside, this mask will be hot. However, there is an excellent rubber seal, prevent hidden leaks.Update Halloween 2017: I did manage to live through Mustard Pollen Hell without having to resort to ANY steroids, inhalers, or nebulizer treatments but only by using this mask. This is a first for me. Surrounded by people coughing all over the place, I don't think I ever had a chance to wander outside without this mask on. This one is a keeper.Update Spring Equinox 2019: My most recent purchase of this product was very disappointing as well as down-right DANGEROUS. The venting system is not working after the first or second use. What happens? You are rebreathing the air within the mask, using up all the oxygen because it is now very difficult to get fresh air in because it is NOT venting. How do I know? First, I am not hearing the vent clicking when air is supposed to be venting out. Second, when I am feeling very lightheaded now while using this, my respiration rate was 30 per minute minimum, and my pulse ox was 73%!!! I'm a physician. I put people on a ventilator if they're doing this! It took me 90 seconds to go from 73% to 96% on room air once I removed the mask. Therefore this mask vent is not working. This is nothing like it was doing the first box I purchased. Unless they fix something, I hereby do NOT recommend buying this product. Somehow, an inferior version was sent to me, and I cannot risk hypoxia EVER.

I do like this respirator, but I have a huge problem with it's usability/construction. After using the filter for a few minutes, I always get these loose fibers coming off the mask rubbing against my skin, nose, or mouth. The fibers are itchy and really quite irritating. This requires me to constantly remove and adjust my mask, but a few minutes later some other fibers start getting into my mouth or what not. The mask still retains its general shape, so it's not necessarily the mask collapsing or losing its structure. The fibers just keep loosening after exposure to moisture from continual inspiration/respiration. Very frustrating! Is there anything that could be done to prevent this from happening or can 3M ensure these fibers stay in place?

Four Stars … for nowI've been buying these masks for 2 years and have been very pleased with their performance. However, in the last pack that I purchased, at least 5 of the 10 masks have been rendered useless because the lower elastic band detached when I removed the mask. The band didn't snap -- rather, it slipped out from underneath the staple that is supposed to keep it attached. This never happened to me before. Perhaps I received a defective batch.I am still going to buy these again because they have worked well in the past. Hopefully I will not have any more problems with the elastic band. I will update my review accordingly.

We bought a whole bunch of these to donate during the Santa Rosa fires in California. They were put to good use and did a good job helping to protect the lungs of many people in the community who were being impacted by all the smoke. Would highly recommend this product to anyone.

I used these same filters for years in the pulp and paper mills I worked in as an engineer. Now I use these same filters all the while I am mowing lawns and doing my woodturning projects. The filters continue to effectively filter out the pollen and fine wood particles that would otherwise create havoc in my nose, windpipe and lungs. They seal well on my face and nose with the metal strip at the top that bends easily to the shape of my nose. I have no fogging problems with my glasses, goggles or face shield.

My husband has to wear this mask outside our house and it is very effective no smells enter the mask my husband has airway restrictive disease and will pass out if he inhales any odor i.e. Perfume colone smoke gas hair spray Downey etc

I bought this mask for visiting Beijing. In late November, smog was very bad in Beijing. I was wearing this mask everyday as the pollution was so bad. I am so glad that I brought it with me. Every time I took off the mask but then smell smoke. I had to put it back on again. What a big difference. The mask was not good enough though as I still smell cigarettes etc. But it is such a life saver. I did purchase a heavy duty one but it was too difficult to put it on and off. So I prefer this small one, which is easier to put it on when heading out and take it down when stepping into a building.

All good, fit is ok, arrived in a single 3m box, no cardboard outer box which is pretty basic but these masks are scarce so can't complain.
