Yay! A winner. On my favorite shelf
Despite the very simple cover (it really doesn't say anything about the story, except the dog I think): THIS IS A LOVELY BOOK! I was not even half when I already decided this would be on my favorite-shelf. Yay, a winner!Evelyn is 29 and is a planner. She went to law school and diligently followed her plan, only to realize that she was not happy at all. While thinking hard about what she actually does want, she is the executive assistant of the CEO of Sterling & Sterling in Chicago, Ben. When Ben needs to lay low for a while after a gossip article, he decides to go Pinehaven Ranch in Montana where he grew up and his family lives. He wants Evelyn to accompany him. In Montana, Evelyn discovers a different way to live. The ranch is amazing and so are the people working it. Except for Jack, Ben's younger brother. He hasn't stopped scowling at Evelyn ever since she stepped of the plane. He was a rather famous rodeo rider but retired when he got injured quite badly and now manages the Ranch.I easily connected with Evie. She was a bit neurotic in her planning, shy but determined and overall just a very nice person. Her doubts over where her future lies are very relatable. The story was written with a lot of humor and so comfortable to read (I can't believe this is a debut, so I will Google after this until I find more...). I loved the Ranch, the men of the ranch and Mary (Ben and Jack's mother), the animals. And of course Jack! When he finally decides there is more to Evie than just a city girl, he really brings the sexy!Quote: 'But here I was, riding next to Jack, feeling like there was absolutely no place on Earth I would rather be than in Pine Hollow, Montana. Except Paris. "For me this was a gem! I loved it and wished there was more (even though there is a lovely epilogue). Let's cross my fingers while I search the internet for more information on this author. She has a new fan!

Honestly, I'm amazed.
I'm a recent convert to romance as a genre, and I was a bit apprehensive about this one - a debut novel that combines the billionaire-boss AND the sexy-cowboy? But someone I know compared the author's style to another author I love, and several reviewers mentioned the humor in this book, so I gave it a shot. I'm SO glad I did.Perhaps it's because Evelyn reminds me of myself - doesn't quite fit in anywhere; migraineur; a bit socially awkward with a mouth that seems to be two steps ahead of her brain; really REALLY enjoys a good meal; a sucker for a cute dog - but I fell in love with her almost instantly. Then the men were introduced, and oh MY. I was worried at first that Evie was going to have a fling with her boss, but the author dodges that quite neatly, while still keeping the boss/employee relationship nicely anchored in the story. There's a genuine sense of warmth and family, both between Evie and her sisters and the Danver family/ranch workers, that really helped set the scene for Evie to find her comfort zone. And the humor - holy cow. I laughed out loud more times reading this book than I have with just about any other book in recent years. At the same time, the scenes with King, especially towards the end of the book, had me in literal tears. Happy ending for hero, heroine, AND horse? Sign me up, please. Most of the book takes place on the Danvers' ranch, but the scene shifts between Chicago and Montana are seamless; the author is clearly familiar with both settings and equally in her comfort zone whether she's describing the perks of big city living or the beauty (and hard work) of ranch life. Her characterization is on point, and her timing is superb - just as I'd find myself wondering, "Hey, whatever happened with...?" my answer would appear within a page or two. The pace is a little slower than the typical romance - as others have said, it's a slow burn, and no one rushes into anything. But I found that detail to be perfectly in keeping with the setting - you can't rush the things that need to be done to keep a ranch running, just like you can't rush a relationship.I hope the author is working on her next book - I can't wait to see Gabe and Ben find love, and I think Evelyn's sister needs a happy ending too. (Heck, I'm even hoping Shelly gets things together and finds her HEA!) With the author's remarkable talent, and her no-nonsense but still sweetly romantic approach to her characters' relationships, this is someone I'm hoping to see a lot more from. I do a LOT of reading and this author is one of the top three I've encountered so far this year. If all romance authors wrote like this, I'd have a lot more romances in my library, that's for sure...Specs: single POV; HEA; no cliffhanger; no cheating or violence; some steamy scenes toward the end, heat rating about 6/10.

Just WOW
I have to say that after reading this I have to put it in my top 5 favorites! It grabbed me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. And even then I had to start rereading it. Has a great slow burn that I love, comedy and all the feels. I love the relationship Evelyn has with all the guys and how awkward and funny she is. I'm not gonna lie, loved everything about this book. I will definitely recommend it to everyone I know and don't know, while I patiently-ok not so patiently-wait for more to come!

Just finished reading this in a day, it was such a great feel good book that I just couldn't put it down. I loved everything about this book, from the characters, the storyline and the way it was written. At one point it even had my shed a tear and I never cry at books. I'm now looking forward to reading other books by this author 👍

Sweet and funny slow burn romance
Loved it! Sweet and funny slow burn romance novel. Relatable heroine, grumpy but swoony hero. My first book from this author. Can't wait to read more of her works.
