Great CF shaft from an outstanding cuemaker
J Pechauer makes outstanding cues, and the Rogue is no exception. Famed for their woodwork, I was concerned that their Carbon Fiber offering might not stand up to the competition. Boy, was I wrong! The Rogue is my favorite CF shaft, by far. It feels more like wood than the Revo or the Cynergy, but the deflection is just as low. Check this shaft out, you won't be disappointed!tl;dr - use some Pledge: One of the few downsides to carbon fiber over wood is that it can't be burnished. If well maintained, a wooden shaft can be as smooth as glass, like CF when it's brand new. Unlike wood, however, where the buildup of natural oils from the skin can work in one's favor, creating a natural seal, natural oils do carbon fiber no favors. Granted, it's simple to clean with a little bit of rubbing alcohol, but I always thought a CF shaft is never going to be smoother than the day it was purchased. I've read countless recommendations for using a glove with CF shafts, and while the consistency of a glove is nice, I'd much prefer to play gloveless. Fortunately, a little bit of good old fashioned Pledge applied to the Rogue can make it slicker than even the best maintained wooden shaft (note: this recommendation comes directly from Jon at Pechauer).
