I love my Traeger
I put off purchasing a Traeger for years. This past summer I went to the county fair where they had a Traeger booth and I spent some time. They were pushing hard the newer Timberline and Ironwood XL. I wasn't ready to spend over $3,000 for one though. They did have the Ironwood 885 there also but because they wanted to sell the newer more expensive models, they acted like it was an unwanted step child and made you feel like a fool if you were to buy it. They did demonstrate all the grills well and did finally sell me on the idea of a pellet smoker though - so I came home and bought the Ironwood 885 on Amazon for $300 less than their "Best Price" at the fair! I have no regrets. Its been 6 months and I use it regularly. My favorite part is turning that bad boy on and the smell of smoke in the air. It is not real smokey - but it is like a campfire, it smokes the most when you first fire it up. It is like a convection oven and being able to set the temperature and let it maintain the temperature control and just sit back outside and drink a beer and smell the smoke in the air is GREAT!Anything you can cook in the oven you can cook on the Traeger and get a great smoke flavor in it. I cooked my first brisket over Labor Day weekend and all my guests loved it. Ran it almost 20 hours straight and refilled the hopper only twice. I am looking forward to doing a Turkey on it in a few weeks for Thanksgiving. I normally air fry my turkey, but going for a spatchcock turkey on the Traeger this year.If you're like me and been putting it off - just do it. I have a hard time making large $ purchases because I am a cheap butt! But Amazon made the impact easier with their 4 month no interest payment option which helped me get over my cheap attitude! :-)

Upgrade from the Pro 575
Amazon front door delivery! Big Amazon box truck arrived, two very friendly workers removed from truck and placed in our garage. I Assembled a week later. Grill was in perfect shape, super easy to Put together.Grill is a lot more sturdy than our Pro 575, and the Ironwood was a bigger cooking space.Pros: nice square, textured grip for opening main door. Fireproof rope on door where it closes (to keep heat and smoke in). Hopper is large enough to hold an entire bag of pellets, light inside of hopper where there is now a pellet sensor. No smoke stack! We got the bundle that came with the folding front shelf and cover. The “Traeger” brand cover for the Pro 575 was junk, we ended up getting an aftermarket that was a lot better. However the new “Traeger” cover that came in the bundle is an upgrade! First cook, was beer can chicken! Perfect. Ohh, the super smoke option!!!! This is game changing. )Only works between 165 and 225)Cons.I wish Traeger would make a handle light for cooking at night, we bought an aftermarket magnet one. The probe that came with the grill is ok, but I never cook one thing, so we have a 4 probe, probe! Wish there was a better option for the grease catch, we use a mason jar in the tin can, as the foil liners always leaked. And we always use tin foil to cover the drip pan, as the Traeger liners are over priced.Overall it is sleek and sexy compared to the Pro with the smokestack. Totally recommend if you want to upgrade, kinda pricy for your first Traeger, but you won’t regret the cost of this if it’s your first pellet smoker.

The NEW Ironwood and Ironwood XL are NOT the same as the 885 575, etc.
Many of the reviews here are NOT for the Ironwood XL. They are for the 885 or 575. These are NOT the same as the NEW Ironwood and Ironwood XL. This is VERY confusing. The Ironwood XL is amazing. My third Traeger grill and by a long margin the best by far. The XL is BIG. Lots of grill space. The controller is very comprehensive and work perfectly with the app. Controlling by WiFi and bluetooth is seamless. Look au a Traeger recipe on the app and push the button to start that recipe on the grill. The only caveat is that you MUST turn the grill on at the grill before controlling with the app so you can't do it from your chair UNTIL you hit the switch on the front of the grill on a cold, asleep grill. Not a problem, but a thing to know. The pellet sensor is amazing accurate and changing out the pellets is as simple as placing a bun, pulling the handle on the Shute, dumping the pellets (which you will need to push the remains out. Think paint stir stick) and refilling the hopper with different pellets. A real game changer over previous models that require a shop vac to empty the hopper. Super smoke mode is excellent, BUT it only works up to 225 degrees. Smoke has not been a problem so far, unlike a lot of the reviews that claim no smoke. I have not found that to be true. With the add on front shelf and pop and lock bin and towel/paper roll holder this is more grill than most will ever need. So far I could not be more pleased. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews. MOST of them are NOT for the NEW Ironwood series.I would buy this grill again, despite the price and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a premium pellet grill.

Don’t buy!
Don’t buy! I purchased the 885 smoker and the smoker was fine but the shipping company they use is absolutely terrible. Don’t take my word for it, research RXO and read the thousands of negative reviews. Home Depot has the exact same items for the same price, save yourself the headache and buy from Home Depot. Why Amazon allows RXO to be on their site I do not know. Literally took them weeks to deliver the smoker. When they did deliver it, employees were horribly unprofessional. I have large rocks lining my driveway and they literally ran into the rocks damaging their vehicle and getting stuck. They left pieces of their damaged vehicle in my driveway and did not close the back door of the truck when they left. I can only imagine that other people’s goods fell out going down the highway.
