awesome customer service when error made
UPDATE: Company was great to deal with. they sent out immediate replacement for the unit . Appreciate their immediately making it right! This was supposed to be a brand new steam shower unit. Just opened the box to have the installer install this item and he found out that it was obviously used. It had calcium buildup not only on the outside fitting but also on the inside of the unit. Plus the adhesive part of the control panel had been stuck to something previously.I have contacted Amazon Customer Service and they were very helpful however it was from a 3rd party and that I have to deal with them to return the unit. The return window has closed while we were readying the bathroom renovation to the point that we were ready to install. Will happily update this review if they provide NEW replacement .

This replaced a Kohler 7W instant on stream generator. This one is much better.Have a 48" X 30"X 80" steam shower with a seat. The Steam Planet is more comfortable than the Kohler (it was way to hot or produced a larger volume of steam for this somewhat small shower)My wife will now use the steam shower again. It has a external temp senor. The temp of the controller swings more than the last unit which was internal senor in the key pad. It will drop 3 degrees and then start generating steam again, but find this setup more comfortable.Only had the unit for a few months, but use it every day in the winter (15 minutes at 113, then rise with cold water for less than a minutes, then another 4 minutes back at 113). Love it.The only complaint is that is take longer to start, about 4 minutes. Not terrible because if gives me time to get a glass of water and scrape my tongue (an enclosed space has made me appreciate my tongue scrapper first thing in the morning to remove morning breath).

Working great
I have a "Mr. Steam" unit in another home and it has worked great for years. I put this unit in a shower area that is about 100 cubic feet and it heats up well...as hot as you can stand. This unit was much less money that the "Mr. Steam" and so far performs just as well with no problems.

Only Lasted 15 months!
The heating element rotted through in about 15 months. See picture. The connectors literally rusted off. The unit is in a dry location in a low-humidity environment. Poor quality.

I love it
This is a great steam machine. I've only used a few times but it works great for my small bathroom and generates a ton of wonderful steam. I like the little well for the essential oils. Works great.

Unit seems fine but it didn't come with the control pad or the steam outlet as advertised. Would be happy as long as items came as promised.

steam generator, 6kw
Having read many reviews I could not many that included a lot of specifics. So, shall try to elaborate on my experience on my 1 week old superior 6kw steam generator.I have used every day for the past week. It is only temped in as my bath remodel has not yet started. This unit is replacing a Steamist Model #sm-3p (6.5kw, drawing 25 amps). I purchased and installed this unit new in....I think it was 1982. It stopped working about 6 years ago. Not a bad run.My shower is 3 x 5 x 7, all interior walls , wall covering is ceramic tile and one full wall is the sealed glass shower door. with a fiberglas shower pan. This steamist unit was a beast. Took 10 minutes to get as hot as I could tolerate and I would only with stand 10 minutes of steam. I had a simple on/off timer switch which I typically set to 20 minutes. It got so hot in the shower , my feet would start cooking and I had to take a bucket of cold water and set it under the steam head to moderate.the temperature. Now, fast forward to 2020. Steamist no longer makes this unit and what the had to offer did not seem to fit my needs. I wanted to utilize my existing wiring (10-2, 30 amp circuit). The few units that allowed me to utilize my wiring were not particularly rated for 105 cu. ft. (unadjusted). All of the 7.5kw units required an 8-2 wire, 40-50 amp circuits and all of them sold an auto drain valve assembly as an additional item and they were not inexpensive. After a couple of in depth discussions with Mark (very nice gentleman, btw) at Homeward bath, I decided on the Superior 6kW Self-Draining Steam Bath Generator. Yes, it is smaller than my old Steamist unit, but It just plain works....although a bit different.Let me explain. At first I was trying to compare apples to oranges. This steam generator does take approx. 20 minutes to heat my shower up whereas the steamist took 10 minutes. But, that is o.k. I get in and relax and 10 to 15 minutes later I have had enough.....but at the same time much more comfortable as my feet are not roasting and I am not "rushed" in and out of my steam bath with unbearable heat. Keep in mind, my unit is only hooked up temporarily and the control panel is still sitting in the basement below the shower so I does run continually as the temp shows only 66 degrees. Once set up properly, I will be able to control the temperature even more and enjoy that much more.I have it set up utilizing only about 24" of 3/4" copper steam pipe with 2 long 45* bends. It does, however, tie into a 4" x 1/2" nipple which is in my existing shower. I am not using any type of steam head as i do not want to restrict the steam line any more than it is by using the 1/2" nipple. Mark at Homeward Bath said if too much restriction, than the unit would shut down and would require a reset. I have not required a reset. I will , of course, change out the 1/2" nipple to 3/4" when I do the bath remodel.Update. I now have the unit set up in the closet immediately behind my shower (see attached photo). Works better than ever. The control panel has not yet been mounted......still sitting next to the steam unit, in the closet.
