I have a few Bluetooth speakers in the $20-$40 range, and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately this one is so far the weakest of the bunch. It is not all bad, but for about $8-$10 more you can get something better. I tested this speaker using some favorite songs from different genres. Below is what I found. The Good: 1. The device has a nice size and feel, and is fairly light. It looks nice. And it paired quickly and easily with my Kindle Fire HD 8 tablet. 2. In the back of the speaker there are 2 ports - one allows you to charge the speaker (micro USB, same charging as for the Kindle Fire HD), while the other allows you to plug it into AC power. An AC cord is provided. It is good to have both options, which is not always the case. 3. When I cranked some songs really loud for a minute or two (more than that and the neighbors would have a cow), there was hardly any distortion or overload. That was impressive for a cheap speaker. 4. Like the SOWO Bluetooth speaker, this one accentuates the vocals , meaning they become more pronounced than the instrumentation. The amazing thing about that was that I could clearly hear the lyrics to songs that previously were not understandable before. That is a curious thing and I plan to take advantage of it more as I use this thing. The Bad: 1. The dynamic range of this speaker is not terribly wide. In other words, the music sounds o.k., but a bit flat and not very "punchy" which is a typical issue with a cheaper speaker. 2. The bass is not very pronounced and doesn't have much presence.. I played some dance tracks and let's just say I would not choose this speaker for a dance party or exercise routine. I am always looking for speakers with good bass. 3. The midrange is good but the treble sounds a bit brittle. The highs sound clipped and a bit fuzzy at times. 4. The Bluetooth connection sometimes has some issues with the volume being low, and the all of a sudden it spikes back up. 5. Finally - very annoying - there is a blue light on the front of the speaker that flashes when the speaker is on, even when music is not playing. I posted a question here to see if this is normal or if there is a way to turn off the flashing light, but so far no one has responded. Summary: I played songs from Seal, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Counting Crows, Janet Jackson, Alan Parsons Project, Crosby Stills & Nash, TLC, The Spinners, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, The Doobie Brothers, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Kool & The Gang, and some metal. In all cases the speaker got the job done but the highs had that brittle tone, and overall the music sounded o.k. but a bit flat. In all cases, the sound lacked warmth. If you are just looking for something cheap and adequate, this will get the job done. But if you are looking for something with better sound quality - something you can show off to your friends - you can do better with the Anker Soundcore ($28 on Amazon) or the Anker Soundcore 2 ($40 on Amazon). There are also others that get great reviews like the OontZ Angle 3 ($25 on Amazon) and the Doss Soundbox Touch ($30 on Amazon). Overall I would give this 2.75 stars. I am glad I tried this one but will continue on my search for a really good $20-$30 speaker.

I own quite a few bluetooth speakers, and by and large, some are great while others are, well, not so great. I should probably point out none of them are expensive, famous brand-name speakers, either. I work in broadcasting and I understand and know what good, quality audio sounds like. Now, with that said, I am not comparing event the best sounding speaker I own to say, one by Bose...however, for the money invested, do they sound good/great? I can say that the Atune speaker, for the cost, is an excellent bluetooth speaker. The bass is fairly responsive and prominent, which is one of the bigger flaws with many bluetooth devices I've discovered. But that doesn't always tell the whole story. I own quite a few speakers that would be considered fairly cheap to buy, and yet sound as good or better than speakers which cost 4 times as much. So it pays to do your research here, folks. Wherever possible, I recommend you get a chance to actually listen to the speaker in advance before forking out the money just to be sure...however, I also understand buying from amazon doesn't always make this possible (if at all), so under those circumstances you should rely on the policy of sending back if necessary. I believe for the cost however, the Atune speaker is more than worth the cost, especially for how decent the sound is, how loud it gets and toss in decent mids and highs and you've got a very worthwhile purchase. Plus, it looks cool, too. Not a bad sign if you ask me. I'm very happy with mine.

I still own an iPod that I like to pug into a portable speaker so it is nice that this comes with am av port that I can still hook that up to. Not every speaker I have seen lately has that. There is a rubber case in the back that had the input as well as the charging port via a micro USB. There is aso a reset button but I am not sure what exactly it resets? I guess it will un-pair your devise from everything, maybe. But I am guessing that most people will use this as a Bluetooth speaker. This one was very easy to pair which is must for a speaker like this. I just had to scan with my computer and it picked this right up. The sound is decent, kind of what I was expecting for the price. Not the best sounding speaker I have used but not nearly the worst either. There are four button, the on/off button. I turned it on when I first got it only for nothing to happened. I thought I needed to charge it first but then when I pressed the button after I charged nothing happened again. It turned out you have to hold it down to turn ir off and on which is mildly annoying. There is a plus and minus for the volume and then again it is mildly annoying that those buttons double as skip. I just wish they would add two more buttons, this speaker is big enough. The fourth button is to take calls on your smartphone if it is paired but I never tried this. So overall this is a decent Bluetooth speaker for the price they are asking for.
