I hate to not have the tapes too because my little ...
I thought I read that there would be a cd and cassette tapes but when we got it, it only had the cd. I would have paid less and gotten the kit somewhere else if I had known that. I hate to not have the tapes too because my little one is very into music and that has been one of the most beneficial parts of the kit with this particular child. That's why I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise we like it. It is a nice pre-k program.

PreK versus Kindergarten/Level 1
I bought this program for a 4 year old. I had previously, although many years ago, used the Kindergarten program with much success. The PreK program teaches colors, shapes and alphabet sounds vs. the Kindergarten/Level 1 program which focuses on short vowel and alphabet sounds. The PreK program has a CD which has songs that correlate with the colors and shapes. For the alphabet sounds-the songs are all on audiotapes(which is rather outdated; individual A-Z alphabet cards; a alphabet chart (both which correlate with the phonics songs on audiotape). I'd prefer if the alphabet sound songs were on CD and available for purchase separately, which actually prepares a more advanced child. The PreK program comes with many alphabet pages that help in practicing the main sound by allowing the child to say the sound and circle the appropriate pictures which begin with that sound. These I found to be very helpful. It also offers stickers as positive reinforcements/rewards.

Good "school" to keep my 3yo busy during school time
I bought this program to do with my preschooler while my 1st grader does the 1st grade program. I like the program, and so does my 3 year old. We just finished the colors yesterday, and we'll be starting the shapes portion next week. I do wish there were more games like the K/1st grade program has. That's my only complaint so far.

Sing, Spell Read & Write (pre-K program)
It's great for all pre-k children. With the the singing of the shapes, colors or phonetics my child is using both right brain & left brain together. It's fun for my child and the same time he doesn't realize he is learning.
