Just make sure to shake the the can for one minute before use, and often during use, to keep the primer mixed and flowing. However, for a really good paint to primer bond, the primer should be allowed to cure for 48 hours before painting. The columns are basically made of molded fiberglass, crushed marble powder, and epoxy resin, just like a matte quartz countertop (and almost as heavy). This primer stuck to the columns like glue, and as smooth as butter, even in the deep flute channels. All 6 cans of this primer worked like a charm with no clogging or splattering. I sprayed the Rust-Olem textured stone paint over this primer, and it stuck to the primer like magic, with no peeling, flaking or chipping. I just wish the stone textured paint had the same coverage per can as this primer, as it is 3 times the price per can.
