I put my phone (which is in a wallet case!) in the product. No moving, or coming out. My dash is slanted, was concerned, the phone would bounce out, but, stayed put the whole trip. I would recommend this for yourself, or gift. I will be testing it out on school bus when school starts back up from holidays. (Busses are bumpy!!) Will update in couple weeks.

The dimensions listed are not accurate and it does not hold my phone in any position, not even when it's flat. It does not stick well on all dashboards and when you try to pick your phone up, it comes up with the phone. If your phone is larger than 3.25' don't purchase this item, it will not work! I will end up giving this to someone who can use it. I'm very disappointed!

My dad likes to leave his sunglasses on the dashboard and I was looking for something to keep them from sliding around. This pad works like a charm. The entire surface of the tray is slightly tacky and the glasses don't move around at all. Unlike most of the pads I looked at this one is a good size and will easily store sunglasses or even a large cell phone in the tray portion. The pad sticks nicely to the dashboard and is easily repositioned by lifting up, but doesn't slide around at all. In terms of working to hold up a cell phone (to use as a GPS), the little indentations worked fine for me, but my phone is small (iphone SE) and in a thin case. I could see with a thicker case or a heavier phone, the holder might be a little too flimsy to hold the phone upright or the case might not fit. This is perfect for what I wanted, but if you primarily want to hold up a phone, you might want something with a sturdier phone grips.

Not for use with big phones. But works for me.

Adheres well, removes cleanly. But only useful for putting something on the flat surface. The slots to hold a phone upright or on its side are too rubbery/thin to hold anything. Also rips extremely easily. Not sturdy enough to hold a phone for hands-free use.

Such a simple design but works well. I use it when Im using my phone for GPS, I just pop it into the slot and my phone is mounted wherever on my dash i put it. My last mount ruined my dash forever but this one doesn’t affect it and I can move it. I have an Iphone Xs Max and it does hold it, any bigger and it might not.

Adhesion and suction power are great when you are laying down items but when I put my phone in the slots to hold my phone vertically on landscape mode to view maps, the grooved 'stands' started to bend and didn't support the weight of my phone. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend, the silicone is too soft and flexible but for holding items like keys and coins, then yes this will work fine.
