No Login unless you pay for Insight
This was supposed to be a nice, managed L3 switch, but I found it's just a gateway device into netgear's insight subscription. If you have an internet connection and you cable this switch up, it will not even offer you the option to log in locally with the default password. It gives you 2 choices:1. Log in with your insight cloud credentials2. Subscribe to insight cloud. (and PAY again before logging in.)It's not enough for them to simply sell a switch, they want to force customers to sign up for their cloud thing, connecting a nice, secure, private switch's admin vlan to the entire world. Nope, not me. I only found through a lot of headache that you can log in locally if you completely disable the switch's ability to reach the internet.Another shocker is that netgear did this to existing customers via a firmware update. Run the update, BANG, no more login unless you pay the insight troll.I cannot understand the thought behind this decision at netgear, aside from sheer greed and total lack of respect for their customers. Bad form.

The switch requires registration with Netgear website to be able to even log in to configure it
Beware when you buy this product here. The switch I've got came with the version of firmware v7.0.1.16 that requires registration with Netgear account on their web site to be able to even log in to the switch. It was sold as "used" and when it arrived, I could not register it to my account because apparently this serial number is still registered with the previous owner. Without this registration I can not log in to the switch and can not configure it, which obviously makes it useless. Netgear support is unresponsive (tried email, did not get any reply, tried website but the support form loops around and never lets me submit the request).Update: Netgear support responded to me after over a week of waiting and sorted this issue out. They attached the switch to my account so now I can manage it. Anyway, something to be aware of when you buy used

Works very well
I consolidated several Ubiquity APs that were using power from local outlets via their individual injectors to receive power from this unit which is in my server room in the basement and is connected to a UPS so that they retain power during an outage. This device worked perfectly for that purpose. I also needed the VLAN capability to handle the guest and IoT wifi SSIDs that the APs also support. The device was easy to setup and has a nice feature set, including VLAN capability, and I believe it's a good deal for the money.

Web interface registration issues being overblown
So I think people have been overblowing the registration requirementsYes unless you register the device it has basically no user interface. With that said, I unlocked my 100% full featured local web interface by registering the switch on my Netgear account, which emailed me a "registration code" which I entered into my switch and now I have 100% local control.I did not even have to connect to the internet, when registering all you need is the serial number. I never once connected the switch to the internet as I block all my switches from accessing the net through a dedicated management VLAN.So with that all said, is it annoying and stupid? ABSOLUTELY, but it is not really an issue.I reduced the review from 5 stars to 4 because of this extra hassle, and because of the limited SNMP monitoring the switch supports.I have plenty of other Netgear switches from the prosafe line and they allow to monitor everything through SNMP especially temperatures and fan speeds and status. The last thing you want in an enterprise environment is to have a switch fail due to bad fans causing it to overheat. You cannot monitor the temperatures or fan speeds or status with this switch. I have gone through the entire list of supported MIBs and OIDs and nothing. Even the OIDs from other switches for these feedbacks are not recognizedI have a support ticket in with Netgear on this as temperatures and fan speeds are basic monitoring requirements. You can monitor other things like uptime, total POE power draw (not per port draw) and other things like Port status, assigned VLANs etx but these are not needed as part of good preventative maintenance like fans and temperatures feedbacksOverall the switch is nice, built well, the interface is very fast and responsive and getting a TRUE 60 watts per port (the power supply is rated high enough to power all 8 ports to full load and still have head room). Fans are very quite. Besides the issues above I like this switch and would recommend it to someone who needs 8x POE++ ports with 60 watts each available.

Three DOA Netgear GS724TPP's! Fan's not working! Switches EXTREMELY HOT under load!
Normally I don't write reviews, but this really bothers me!I purchased my 1st switch back in May. I didn't realize it at the time, but because of the ambient noise in the environment I couldn't hear that the fans weren't running.Consequently the switch is EXTREMELY hot!I purchased another switch in July, same model. That's when I really noticed the heat issue because of the load on the switch. I immediately requested a replacement through Amazon and the 3rd switch was also DOA with no functioning fans!!!Spent over an hour on the phone with Netgear, tech said very odd and never saw that! Fans should be running on power up! Also switches not reporting temp!I usually and very happy with Netgear stuff, but so far these are garbage! I'll give it one more shot! This is what I get for trying to save a buck and not buying something like a DELL 1524 PoE!

PAS UTILE
Besoin d'un routeur pour fonctionner. Dans un routeur il y a une ou plusieurs prise ethernet, donc pourquoi avoir ce switch? Utile pour une entreprise peut-Γͺtre mais pas pour la maison.
