A very versatile instrument which needs a little study to get the best out of it.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Basically this instrument has two separate sets of controls, one for its detect mode which can find, Battens, cables, screws and nails as well as detecting AC current. The other set of controls covers the measuring and calculation modes. Separating them does save a bit of confusion.Detection modes:Basically these split in two, one mode detects wood, it is intended to find the framing in stud walls and is really useful if you are looking for a good place to fix things without special cavity plugs or of course a spot clear of framing if you want to make a hole to put something in. Of course the higher sensitivity needed to find wood behind plaster board means it can get a little over excited by metal objects. Mostly they are correctly identified as screws or nails but sometime spuriously as cables. Switch to the metal mode to confirm what is really there. In the metal mode metal objects up to about 2" deep are reliably found and accurately ranged. If the cable is carrying AC current this is indicated and if the detection tone is enabled the instrument gets really excited.Measuring modes:These basically use a laser beam to range either from the back of the instrument or from the front, the latter being very handy for depth measurements. The unit come set for metric but this is easily corrected to inches or feet and inches. The menu system is fairly easy to follow especially if you have ever used this kind of instrument before. There are trigonometric modes to find heights of things that you cannot just use simple ranging for, maybe a telegraph pole which does not really have a suitable surface for direct ranging or and object you cannot get to. I think its best to sit down with the instrument and have a bit of a play before trying to use it in earnest.I like this piece of kit, I got it for a colleague but I am almost tempted to keep it and give him my old separate instruments.

Great Multi Tool for your toolbox
Let me say before you read anything else, this great gadget needs you to read the manual before you start to use it.The reason I say this is due to the many functions this tool does.It can detect metal, wooden beams, electricity cables when using one end of the tool. When I was using the tool I noticed that it also shows you if there are nails where you want to drill or hammer a nail, I was very surprised to see this it is a big plus for me as it prevents you drilling the hole again if you did drill/hammer into one.You can also change the depth of the scanning of the tool into the wall. The other end of the tool you have a range of different measurements.I do not see myself using the majority of the measurement modes, these modes will help the building trade rather than the general DIYer.This tool was very useful for me as I have just redecorated and remodelled a bedroom in the house, it gets a big thumbs up from me.

Very accurate at a reasonable price!
Was looking for a decent stud finder to assist me with wall mounting a TV.I was attracted to this one due to the display, which made it appear to be effortless to read and use, and I’m pleased to say that it didn’t let me down.It accurately located electrical cabling, studs, stud screws, the lot, on multiple tests. It prevented me from drilling straight through some electrics, as I was able to drill a hole next to where I was originally going to.Simply put, it done it’s intended job with ease, and saved me a lot of effort, aggravation and money.

Not as magic as I was hoping for
This is accurate as a laser measuring device. I didn’t know I needed one of these until I got this. I needed a stud finder, this fitted the bill and the laser was a bonus. I’ve just moved into a new build and the stud finder didn’t find many studs due to the thickness of insulation within the stud walls. It’s very easy to use and it’s not very thick.

This is great to eñßure you never drill through a pipe or something you don't want to ever again!Firstly I'd recommend you read through the instructions thoroughly .. it's quite complex but once you get the hang of it it's great.Really impressed that it seems to pick up everything!Great tool for those off occasions you may be doing DIY and not want to have a disaster.

Safe DIY
Used it the day it arrived. This made sure I drilled in a safe place avoiding any electrical cables or water or pipes in the wall. If you’re not familiar with the walls or wood surfaces, I would definitely recommend this device to keep you safe and to avoid expensive mistakes.

Good quality tools
I've been after a laser tape measure for a while now. When I purchased the meterk drill I was very pleased with the quality i decided to buy this laser measure. device is very accurate and there is a voice that tells you the measurements. The battery seems to be good and the added bonus is that it detects studs electrics and metal. I like this brand and will be buying more from them.
