This Book Will Make You Kinder: An Empathy Handbook

Too liberal. Waste of time

I’m so tempted to use the phrase, “this little book” because of the relative brevity of Garrett’s text. But the ideas within the pages are anything but small, and I would hate to minimize them.It’s accessible, it’s friendly, it’s kind, it’s necessary.I encountered ideas I’ve included in my own morality for years now as well as new frames that challenge some of my old thinking.This book does very good work. It is threatening only insomuch as a book that points to how we must change our thinking and actions would be inherently threatening.So very lovely. I’ve just put it down and look forward to revisiting it in a month or so as a refresher.

Excellent source for ways to implement a little empathy and kindness towards others and yourself in your everyday life. While there are many (wonderfully witty and "punny") illustrations, this would best serve a young adult or adult audience. Though, I think you could use this as an aid to open up conversations on these important topics with children!Hopefully this will serve as a reminder to whomever reads it (like myself!) to treat others with dignity, respect, empathy, and KINDNESS!Overall, I would recommend this to anyone and everyone working on understanding and implementing a little kindness into our moral actions.

This book is a beautiful treasure! I have followed Henry’s work for years and was incredibly excited for this book - it doesn’t disappoint. We all owe each other so much kindness and this book will walk you through a practical journey of how to give that to yourself and others. Instead of exclaiming “life isn’t fair, get used to it” read this book and practice empathy and change to “life isn’t fair, let’s make it better together”.

I have been a fan of Henry James Garrett for a long time, and his book does not disappoint! The illustrations are carefully thought out and thought provoking and truly summative of a book that exclaims 'empathy is your superpower'. I would recommend this book to anyone of any age group. We should all be kinder :).

This book was such a wonderful read. It was eye opening and made me really think about how I approach people on a day to day basis. I definitely plan on rereading it again. There is so much to learn and the author has written it in such a relatable way.

Honestly I can't get enough of this book & how awesome it is! The powerful messages put out along with the super cute animal illustrations, is just out of this world! Much needed change in this world, & this book helps w that.

Really enjoyed the book! I got through it in a couple of days as it’s really easy reading. Loved the balance of illustrations and text. Will be buying some copies for my family at Christmas!

This book. Wow. In my opinion this book is a must-read for EVERYONE. Reading it has absolutely changed the way I think about kindness, empathy, and the unlearning/learning/discomfort/sacrifice so abundantly needed to make the world a little better for everyone. I took my time reading it, and will likely reread it, as the lessons therein are both timeless and significant.
