Don't worry, Moltar, I bought your action figure!
"They're sellin' my action figure for five bucks! Why's the price gotta be different?" In a hilarious episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast, the lava man named Moltar laments that no one buys any of the toys modeled after him. But not to worry, my molten friend, I have, and it was a wise decision. Though the grey on his suit is a bit too light, he's accurately molded and fairly well articulated. You can move his ankles, knees, legs, waist (not recommended), neck, shoulders, and elbows. I don't recommend moving his waist, as it'll damage his green belt buckle. His head can move 180 degrees around (so you can have "The Exorcist" Moltar, I guess), and it can also reasonably move upwards and downwards. I'd guess that his head rests on a sort of "ball and socket" joint, and it works well. He stands up reasonably well in most poses, which makes him a great desk decoration. The material itself is a kind of plastic I haven't seen on many action figures, but it seems to be durable. He's survived a few falls without taking damage, but bear in mind that the dangers of a dorm room are somewhat limited. I haven't tossed him down a staircase or done anything else of that magnitude, so my experience on the matter is a bit limited. The control panel accessory is also well sculpted, but sadly, the lever will always be in the "up" position. Actually, as I was writing this review, the lever broke off as I gently touched it. Don't try to move the lever, or you'll be sad. You can most certainly position Moltar's right fist over it so it looks like he's working, however.Overall, this is a wonderful toy! Don't be afraid to take it out of the box, because you'll find yourself posing Moltar in various places, or making it look like he's about to uppercut your other action figures. If you're a fan of Space Ghost Coast to Coast but missed out on these when they were new, you'd do well to pick this up. At the time of this review, Moltar is only $10 or so. Zorak is impossible to find, and Brak and Space Ghost are exuberantly overpriced. This may be your only option if you want a SG:CTC figurine at a decent price. Regardless, you won't be disappointed, unless you want to move the lever.
