Finding Your Leadership Style: A Guide for Educators

I needed this book for a class and it was pretty good. I brought some of the concepts back to our administrative team and they enjoyed it too. It's certainly not the end all with regards to leadership style (no single work can describe anyone) but it was an interesting read and at times, though provoking.

It was required reading for a class. I don't like books that try to pigeonhole people regardless of what it's characterizing.

The book was easy to read and to understand the concepts presented throughout the chapters. It made me take a good look at myself first, so that I can be the best that I can as a Leader.

I learned a lot about my leadership style. This is another great book if you are wondering what kind of leader you are.

I was excited to read this book because I thought it would motivate me even more to become a leader in my field. It did just the opposite. This book asks you true/false questions to determine what type of a leader you are and your ability to lead. I was discouraged with the answers I got. It labeled me as a creative assertive. The author reveals a combination of characteristics which define me. For example, visionary, driven, absorbed, self-sufficient; yet emotional and sensitive. He then summarizes my "leader type" as one that would not make a good manager or supervisor. What? Who's to say those traits are not conducive to leading others. I was disheartened. I think I would make a great leader.Even more aggravating was the fact that I possessed qualities contained in many of the other leadership styles mentioned. So, with a combination of traits from all styles; I would make an even better leader. By categorizing people into one particular leadership style, he denotes their true capabilities as a leader.If you want your ego crushed and your aspirations deflated, then by all means, read this book. I would definitely not recommend it!

This is a very interesting review of Leadership styles, individuals and characteristics! Full of wisdom and insightful tips on Both dealing with leaders and grooming the best traits in oneself! I thoroughly enjoyed this book-in both a personal and professional capacity!

Good and easy to use book. Not "deep", but interesting. It resonates with many of the students in my Leadership classes.
