I bought medium for an 8 1/2 mini dachshund....I read someone bought x large for a 15 pound dog and it was only a little big. I think you should go bigger...but read the chart for the recommendation. I think a great dane is proportioned pretty standardly....(not like a dachshund which is longer than typical) I would think the suggested size based on the measurements should work. A great dane would seem to need a 2X I believe. (at least)
