EDIT 4/13/23: An 18mm socket fits around the brass fitting inside the black knob. Once I figured this out, I was able to tighten everything together for leak-free use. This is a simple, effective fitting for the right application.Original: There is no way to connect this to a line or other fitting effectively. There is simply not enough room to get a tool to engage the brass piece to tighten securely (especially without damaging the brass), resulting a dangerous gas leak.

Remember to turn the source tank upside down (if you can) and leave it for a while before removal. Because of hurricane Maria we could not get replacement propane bottles. This gadget worked flawlessly. The only thing is that when you connect the bottle and hear the gas transferring you think it's done once the sound stops but it still transfers after that. If you take it off you get a propane bottle that may last a couple uses but if you leave it on for like an hour it will fill to almost full level. This is especially true when the source cylinder is not full. During the hurricane we only had two propane bottles so I used to leave one bottle connected refilling while using the other and it worked perfectly.

Handy for running my little Coleman catalytic heater directly from a 20# bottle instead of those little 1# bottles.

Good value and quality. But a large tank and full your 1lb bottle at a fraction of the costs.

Got this to adapt the small propane bottles to my torch, works perfectly. Now I don't have to lug around a full size propane tank to use the torch!

The main reason you but a gauge is to see when your tank is low so you can fill it, right? This gauge said I has 1/4th of my tank left and I ran out while cooking. I have been checking it every other day as I knew it needed to be filled soon but the gauge still said it was 1/4th full so I went to cook and it ran dry.Buy a better one that actually tells you when your tank is almost out.

Filling 1lb bottles,easy to use

I didn't know if this product would be easy/safe to use? Arrived on time and as described. I connected it to my 20 lb propane tank, turned it up-side-down, weighed my 1 lb camping tank empty (most I found were 13.5 oz empty), connected the empty 1 lb tank to the refill adapter and listened for the exchange of propane (liquid hiss). I found it put about 8 oz in before I have to turn off the main valve from the 20 lb tank, unscrew the 1 lb, and then I used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull up on the venting valve on the 1 lb tank before it would accept more liquid propane. I had to redo this procedure about 3-4 time to get the full 16 oz (1 lb) of propane back into it. I used a small kitchen Starfrit electronic scale to ensure that I didn't go over1 lb of propane as they can explode if I were to go over, especially if left in a hot car say. One thing I noted is that once refilled these are not allowed to be transported on any kind of public transportation apparently label says a ($500,000) fine if refilled and you do take them on a bus or train. Also, something really important I found was to give the venting valve a final pull and snap release and listen to make sure it isn't leaking-if I wasn't sure I did a quick soap and water test. Other than that the adapter has worked for me and has already refilled over 24 1 lb propane tanks since it has arrived. Works awesome and saves me a lot of money refilling my own!

Easy to read and does the job!

Werked perfectly. The transfer tune was slow fir used as a refill from INE tank to another. Problem solved by drilling out the orifice button. 1/8” - 9/64” is fine.They should extend the threaded stem for easier connections to hose etc
