Frustrated....
They are what they are and they do what they say. The reason I only gave this 3 stars is because I am not happy with the misleading way that it's advertised and the poor manner in which the information is provided. I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery. In physical therapy it was recommended that I look into the yoga tuneup program. While searching for that I also came across the Soma System. The reviews were excellent and it was advertised as coming with a 3 hour video. The yoga tuneup program had a book, but I thought the video would be more helpful so I purchased the Soma System. After making the purchase I received an email with a link to the video. It is not actually a three hour video; rather, it is a link to multiple shorter videos on how to do self palpation with your hands - they have nothing to do with the massage therapy balls. With my shoulder in it's current state I'm unable to do the manual massage to help this area. When the package was delivered it included information about another website to go to for instructions on using the massage therapy balls. When I went to that site I was instructed to enter relevant information about my particular problem areas so that they could develop an "individualized program" just for me. I answered all the questions and noted the particular problems with my surgery and recovery for my shoulder. After doing all this I received an email telling me that every day for the next 30 days I would receive an email with a particular exercise for a particular area. I was to perform each exercises 3 times a day, then go to their Facebook page to discuss my results. So far, my "individualized program" for my shoulder has provided me with exercises for my feet, inner thighs, back of thighs, frontal thighs, and gluteals. (For the inner thighs I think there was supposed to be two exercises - but exercise 2 was just a duplicate of exercise 1.) The Facebook page, where I'm supposed to discuss my experiences and results, is not helpful. It appears to be updated on rare and sporadic times. As of today (9/16) the most recent post is more than three months old. I suppose they will eventually send information that helps my shoulder, but I really don't think I should have to wait several weeks to get it. In the end I went back to the yoga tuneup program and bought that book. I now have the information I need, but it didn't come from Soma Systems. Any future purchases that I make will not be from them.

So far, the easiest fix to muscle pain and stress....
I have been having tension in my neck and shoulder muscle for years now.... pretty much ever since I got the 9 to 5 office job (except it's more like 9 to 9). Living a corporate dream, you know... A friend took Roman Torgovitsky soma system deep tissue self bodywork class at Perform Better Functional Summit and kept pushing me to check them out. There are five balls. Largest one is firmer than a tennis ball, but softer than lacrosse balls. The smaller four balls are like lacrosse balls, but oh my goodness - I never thought that the smalls ball out of this package could do so much! I used to pay over $100 for deep tissue massage and I could afford it only once a month. The problem though wasn't as much the money as finding he time to actually make it happen. Now, I get deep tissue massage with these balls several times a week... They are honestly addictive, cause it's so easy to squeeze into your evening, I'm pretty much craving it after work. I terms of relaxation vs. effort ratio, I would compare it to taking the hot shower, except you get way deeper muscle release. I have now started to sometimes use them before going to bed when my mind and body is still racing from the day at work, and it really calms my body and mind down.Plus, I have this one spot in my upper back that has been bothering me for years and massage therapists would work on it for a couple of mins each session. With these balls I can work on this one spot for 5-10 mins and after a couple of times working on it - I released that nagging spot and it no longer bothers me! Amazing! So I guess, do yourself a favor and stop waiting until you do some huge lifestyle change that will make you healthier. Start with a small but powerful fix, cause if I found the time and discipline to do it, pretty sure anyone could...

Love this set of massage tools!
I've been an LMT and a Pilates instructor since 1999. These tools are fantastic. For much of the last 17 years I've been an advocate of foam rollers and tennis balls for trigger point and myofacial work. I was introduced to Soma System at a Pilates conference and was hooked after trying it out at their booth! I have been using this set for the last 2 weeks primarily on my quadriceps, hamstrings and hip rotators which are full of TP's constantly giving me grief. I average once a day use in the morning with maybe 3 days of use after work. I've been incorporating the other tools as well. These tools improve self work beyond the norm. This massage ball set is great in that it provides several sizes for smaller areas and more precise work. I get better separation of the muscles using these vs traditional tools. I've been able to achieve larger and better controlled hip movements in my pilates practice as these TP's release. The videos were easy to follow and very helpful. I ordered most of the entire system and can't quite pick a favorite. The bag is a nice touch, they are easy to pack and travel with. Definitely a great addition to your self care regimen or a replacement for techniques that aren't quite working for you. For me the entire system is the missing link.

Very Effective at tension release
I am a massage therapist and pilates instructor, so I have to take care not just of my body but also of my clients'. I always look for ways to excel in my practice and be really helpful. I've learnt a lot from soma system videos and from actual practicing their tools (I have bought almost the entire system). Speaking of this particular set, the small balls allow us to access the areas that are hard to reach and help feel where we hold most tension, and how tension and release of it affects our movement. The balls can be applied to any part of a body. They work as great on the feet as the spine. Using the balls in my pilates sessions helps my clients release their TPs, so they could move more freely and better control their movement.

Best purchase I've ever made
This massage balls set has been the best purchase I've ever made. I'm an avid kickboxer with lower back issues and these guys are perfect for pre and post-workout therapy. The balls can reach deep into places that a foam roller would be impossible to reach. Using the balls can be very painful, but once you release the pressure it feels like heaven. The benefits in pain reduction I've seen are enormous and it has helped me improve significantly my performance.

Pain relieving tool that you can always carry with you
I have a very painful spot right above my buttock, and when massage therapists tried to work on it, it only got worse. When I (very carefully) first used these balls between that zone and the back of the chair, it felt like a miracle. I slowly and gently rolled the ball around, controlling the amount of pressure I was applying. It only took around 10 minutes for me to feel a great relief! I carry the balls in that nice bag everywhere I go, so I can easily use them even at work!

Not exactly Yoga Tune up, but close.
I bought these balls as a lower cost version of the Yoga Tune up balls and I think they compared. It is important to use them with fitted clothing and on a surface that will not snag the rubber, as it catches a bit more than the yoga tune up material does. Overall, happy with the purchase!

Great product, great follow up and good cause.
The product was exactly as shown. And the seller provided an instructional video which was very informative. I appreciate that the seller followed up to insure I was happy with the product. Also great to know that proceeds of the sale go to support veterans suffering with PTSD. As a soldier myself I appreciate that.
