album number 17?
A new release from one of the originals and overall, it is a fine collection of songs. Will fans of their early, harder sound enjoy it? Perhaps, perhaps not...but they probably stopped listening long ago once the original vocalist/guitarist left the group (Hugh's got a new CD coming out this Summer). Their current guitarist/vocalist does a fine job and the songs are well written, playing & production values are solid.A lot less hair and a bit wider waistlines will be found within. Who cares - they still kick it hard while making you think twice about the ways of the world. Drummer Jet Black still stands/plays strong, even flashing a "Frank from Blue Velvet" look on inner tray card. And the CD cover? Go for the import version; all four of them hanging by the necks in black - what else would you expect for these die-hards.

Finest album in years
Finest album in years. Definitely sounds like old school, 70's era Stranglers. Highly recommended!!

I'm biased ...
Since I'm a long time fan I can't give this band a bad review for providing me with more music. It's in their 70's style in some ways. Good stuff.

Tremendous!
As a Stranglers fan, I'm not unbiased in a 5-star rating. BUT, the opening instrumental piece sets the tone for a really complete album. If you like the Stranglers you won't be disappointed.

Giants-Stranglers
Giants-Stranglers are as good as ever with the new addition for vocals and guitar. My favorite song on the albim is My Fickle Reserve, a slightly different type of song. I recently listened and compared a couple of the early Stranglers, and I do believe this is the best since Hugh Cornwell left the band. My favorite album has been Dreamtime, and this compares very favorably with that album. This CD takes more than one listen and grows on you. With this good of an CD, I wish it wasn't so long between new original releases. Enough with the past hits assemblanges; keep the new stuff coming. I gave it a four star, because the CD is too short.

EXCELLENT!
I LOVE the mix on here! I have been following The Stranglers since way back when and have just about every one of their albums. This one is truly as good as it gets. Yes, they are entering a slightly different phase in their music but it's just as good as ever and you can tell straight away you are listening to Stranglers when you start listening. HIGHLY recommended!
