As good as they get.
It fit perfect with no installation problems and It works the way it should. I went to the Marina first to order one thinking about $60.00 should be the price but when they wanted well over $200 I instantly thought of Amazon. I could slap myself for not doing that first since the Marina had to order it anyway and I got it just as fast and could have bought 4 for the same price.

too weak for 90hp
went through like 3 of these before finally deciding to get a Teleflex/sierra one that I never had a problem with. These starters are way too weak for a 90hp motor and don't have the torque to turn it over quickly enough. If you look at the original mercruiser or Teleflex one, you'll notice how there's a big cylinder under the bendix supporting the shaft, where this one just has the bare shaft. That cylinder contains a large diameter bearing and this starter shaft will bend at that exact spot after being used a bunch of times. I actually had to buy a new flywheel because it bent and pushed the flywheel into the stator, breaking off a bunch of magnets. It fits in the hole and appears to be the right one, but will definitely not last

all bolt holes matched up and threads were perfect. Engine fired right up
I have a 1996 Force by Mercury 90hp outboard....starter dropped in perfectly...all bolt holes matched up and threads were perfect. Engine fired right up...plenty of torque...no issues at all....took 10 minutes to install....my boat never left the water...super deal for the price especially since the boat dealer near my lake wanted almost $200 for the same thing.

will try another brand
started my boat about 10 times without an issue, then the starter drive locked up , after unbolting it from the boat engine I noticed that the bendix drive is bent and was locking against the engine. I guess I will try another brand. as the original one lasted 35 years without any problems until the brushes failed.

Works great on my 85hp Chrysler. Been out a few times with no problems. I would recommend this starter for the money.

starter worked great
Starter went out on my 1996 120hp Force and the dealers wanted $295-$400 for replacement. Got this one and it works great!

Didn’t quite fit
Didn’t quite fit not the housing and needed persuasion to make sure it was aligned properly. The bottom bracket was also out of line and required spacers to make it fit properly. Worked nicely once fitted though
