Bright Lights: John Milton, Book 15

Working my way through the series and following the John Milton character

As ever do many twists and turns it makes you dizzy. It's compelling from the first chapter and faces along at breakneck speed. Looking forward to the next adventure now.

I started reading this book thinking that I was in familiar territory, however I was wrong! The more I think about it, the more certain I am that Mark has not only been developing his John Milton\Smith character, but also his style. This is, in my opinion, one of his most polished books by far. I can't put my finger on what specifically has changed but if feels like everything is more refined and defined and detailed. If you haven't been hooked by one of Mark's books by now then this one will definitely bring you into the fold. In short, this is one of the best books I've read for a while and puts Mark up with the Leadbetter and Child's league of authors. You will NOT be disappointed!

I'd have given this a 4 star rating if it wasn't for the very disappointing ending,which left me frustrated rather than wanting to look forward to the next episode.Initially this was typical Milton,gets caught up with someone looking for help and is then drawn into a number of life threatening issues which only Milton and his friends can find ways to resolve.Fast paced and as good as any of the books before this one......but then a real let down over the last couple of pages where nothing is concluded and readers are left high and dry.Did you have a deadline to reach Mark or did you just run out of ideas?No probably more like an easy way to get book 16 into the top 10 next time around.....or that's how it felt to me.Such a shame as you are too good an author to need to fall to those depths.I will buy book 16 but it had better be good or your band of loyal readers might just look elsewhere.

I started reading the John Milton books when a compendium of the first volumes were issued, I enjoyed them and purchased the second compendium. I still enjoyed them to started buying the books individually, and read the Beatrix series which I further enjoyed. I then progressed to Isabella series and also read the Soho series. So I am a fan, but, I found Bright Lights a refreshing read, and more compelling. I'm not saying the last few were no good, but I really enjoyed this book - especially the cliff-hanger at the end. I'm not a fan of Las Vegas, but recognized many of the references. Strongly recommend this book.

Mark Dawson has the skills of a seasoned writer at the top his game with no signs of slowing down.Bright Lights sees the return of John Milton on his way to Las Vegas where upon a string of events leads our hero to go up against another Cartel to save a mysterious woman and her family from a fate worse than death.Yet another fast paced action thriller that never lets up and sees the return of John Milton and a few known friends from his past. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was excited with what the final twist will mean for our heroes' future. Lots of fun.

I found this Milton adventure somewhat disappointing compared to the previous episodes. Whilst Milton still wrestles with his moral compass and his desire to enact justice on wrong doers, the plot is a little thin. The story line ends with a promise of his enacting revenge on gangland bigwigs and hopefully that scenario will return Milton to the avenging hero of previous novels. Nevertheless an enjoyable read, thus the 4 stars.
