Wonderful Flavor!
This is the most pungent Cardamom I have ever had the pleasure of buying. Yes it is expensive and in opinion worth it! I add it to baking, a pinch when I brew coffee, tea, oatmeal and many other things. For someone who has no idea the flavor in my opinion it tastes like a wonderful mix of black pepper, pine trees, lemon and a touch of nutmeg. It is absolutely lovely. I am a foodie and hence my passion. Good luck on your future kitchen experiences!

and generally had been satisfied with the quality
I have purchase this product several times before. and generally had been satisfied with the quality. The new package that I received contained many impurities that had to be picked up and discarded by me. This is not as advertised "decorated seeds". For the price this item is sold at fiding many pieces of pod mixed in with the seeds is not acceptable.

Wow!
I had never bought cardamom before and wanted to investigate before buying any, since it is expensive. I learned that the powdered version loses its strength quickly. So I tried this whole spice. Very nice! The fragrance is overwhelming. Clearly it is fresh. I gave some to a friend and she could not stop holding it up to her nose and raving about it. I don't grind it until I'm ready to use it. I enjoy it mixed in my coffee beans and will be trying it in other ways, such as chai.

Use it for Chai
After 3 bags of this, it is time for a 5-star review!I use this for chai, and sometimes for Indian food. My method of making chai is very convenient and makes something you can't get in a restaurant in the US.First, I mix into a quart jar:Whole cardamomWhole clovesFennel seedsCoriander seedsNutmegCumin seedsEach pot of Chai will make about 6 12oz cups, and this jar will make about 15 pots of tea. When I make the chai I slice fresh ginger, add black tea, and sometimes vanilla and mint. I grind about 3 tablespoons of the spice mixture in a cheap coffee grinder (I use an expensive hand-grinder for my coffee). I pour boiling water into the pot full of ingredients, and cover with a towel. I let it steep for at least 20-30 minutes. Then I drink it for up to 2 days, without even bothering to refrigerate it (don't sue me if you try this and it kills you). I have lived in developing countries, so I guess I am not so fearful of a few germs. To prepare the chai, I heat milk to 160 degree and then put the milk and chai in a Blendtec and froth it at maximum speed for 50 seconds. Sometimes I use 1.5 teaspoons of sugar, sometimes not. Then I pour the delicious creamy, frothy drink into a nice white mug and enjoy it!This same spice mix can be added nice and fresh to lentil or other Indian dishes. It all starts with fresh-ground cardamom and cloves! All ingredients mentioned above, including the Blendtec blender and coffee grinder, were purchased on Amazon (except the fresh ginger).

The best way to buy cardamom
This is truly the best way to purchase cardamom if you use it in baking, coffee, etc. It is so fresh and flavorful. I wish I had purchased cardomom like this years ago. I have shared with many friends and still have plenty left for me. You will not regret buying this cardomom.
