Do what I did, get a dozen flies for $6 on eBay. **Q: Double taper or weight forward?** A: According to the line numbers it comes with a level #6 Floating line (LT6F). You'll want WF6F, Weight Forward #6 Floating. Easiest to learn casting on. **Q: What type line is included....level, weigh forward, tapered?** A: This has a level fishing line. This makes it more difficult for the beginner fly fisherman to learn how to cast. I confirmed this with the manufacturer. **Q: Is the rod great for taking out of the country fishing** A: I wouldn't fish for anything bigger than maybe a 5 pound bass tops.
