Slide viewer
I wanted a viewer to sort through slides to determine which were worth digitizing. For this purpose, it would be best to have more magnification. Over all the items works well and will help in sorting slides. The bulb is the incandescent type which might be hard to replace. I would have expected LED in a new item.

slides, slides everywhere
after reading several reviews, I bought the adapter for the pana-vue. I have several thousand slides I am previewing, sorting, and discarding in anticipation of digitizing several hundred select slides. My slides are contained in 10 filled Kodak carousels, Metal storage trays from the 1980s, and many cardboard mailer boxes. I set up an assembly line of sorts on a long table. First, I fan out as many slides I can fit on a light box. I’m able to determine right away which ones to discard. for example, 1973 the Grand Canyon carousel box. Using the lightbox, I discarded very quickly 120+ angles of the canyon and beyond ...lol... i kept about 20 or so photos of my late husband and me.With the previewer, I chose the best of those photos to get digitized. I’m able to see expressions on faces, closed eyes etc.I would not want to use the viewer for thousands of slides!I was concerned about the jamming mentioned in several reviews because I have arthritic hands, but I’ve learned to get along with the previewer, minimizing the number of slides that get jammed. The box in which it came looked old, so right away I was concerned that it was a used product and would need to return it. Not so, it works well.I would say this is good value for what it is accomplishing. looking at all these sides is an arduous But important project for the family

Keller doesn't provide customer service
I tried calling the Keller company upon Amazon's advice. They don't answer nor return a call. I received my viewer but there was not cord/transformer in the box. I am forced to use the D batteries (not included) rather than through a direct electrical outlet. Customer Service is nothing.

Good News & Bad News
Viewing slides is quite enjoyable. Image is good-sized for the money. Lost a star in three areas:1) Installing the batteries (2 size D) is a pain in the a**! Instructions for this process are skimpy - and bending the contacts that light the bulb is easy to do while trying to slide the battery holder back into the device.2) The recommended transformer is a great idea - it avoids dealing with the battery issue. BUT - it's not available from Amazon or this vendor. It is suppose to be available "soon". And, of course, the transformer plug into the slide viewer is unique and requires their product. Buy lots of batteries!3) I paid extra to have the slide viewer delivered by Friday, December 30th. It didn't arrive until Saturday, December 31st. No explanation, no refund of shipping charges. I would have gotten the product at the same time without the extra charges. Won't fool me again!

I bought this for screening Kodak 35mm slides in cardboard ...
I bought this for screening Kodak 35mm slides in cardboard frames. It serves the purpose. Once you develop a hand motion rhythm that avoids jams in the discharge bin, it seems to work mechanically about as well as the original version that I used 30-40 years ago. The back light is bright enough, although some nonuniformity in light intensity from the light source (incandescent bulb) is evident. The internal surfaces between the slide and lens are smooth black plastic and create peripheral reflected images around the main slide image, but these do not interfere with the main central image. The image is magnified sufficiently for gross screening of slides for content and quite a lot of image detail can be discerned.

Works for going thru a stack of slide.
Had one of these in the 80’s but it finally gave out in the 2000’s. Didn’t find anything else on the market that goes thru a stack of slides quickly for sorting lots of slides. Lights up, & enlarges it for easy editing. Its plastic though & not as well made as the one from the 80’s. Pieces of plastic get on the screen but its easy to wipe off. It works best with the batteries but the charger doesn’t have a good connection. Works, but not as well as I hoped.

Sort Through Slides Fast
Design is just as I remember it from decades ago. I had a few hundred slides and no means of looking at them. Ordered this, and quickly went through the whole stack. It's not perfect and you need to be gentle and use a little finesse from time to time, but overall a very good tool.Tip (s) Make sure you have 2 D batteries. Not as common as they used to be. Give the slides a little shuffle before you put them in the hopper. The viewer works best if the slides are loosely stacked.

May need minor modification .. OK for do it yourselfer
Loading batteries is not for the novice...I had to modify the internal structure to stop the unit keeping its light on continuously thereby running the battery down in short order. The modification involved bending a brass strip, part of the electrical switch. the unit should turn on when the slide is pushed into the viewer and turned off when the slide ejected and the slider arm is withdrawn for the next slide.once this operation was complete and after a few attempts at bending brass strips working correctly, the performance has been good over the past 3 weeks.

All tha that is included in sale of item.
Apparently the panda-view did not include a power cord, even a new one does not. I rated it quite low but upon advise and reflection, I probably should have made sure there one inj sale. I therefore change my view of the product to three stars only because of the lack of power cord.

It works on 2 "D" batteries which are NOT easy to install in the machine
By my own admission I did not know the AC plug in was not included with this viewer. It works on 2 "D" batteries which are NOT easy to install in the machine. Then within a week the batteries were dead even though the viewer was used for about 1 hour over the course of the week. For the price I expected much better quality so am returning it.
