Needs new format!!!
Theres only 8 episodes , change in leading actors , (l personally found all the sentimental scenes a bit dull). The new lead raif little character (as a load of allergies apparently re-deemed funny) l thinks gonna grate on me . There was nothing new same format , An english Detective comes over there like village idiots but great at solving crimetc l solved some episodes myself 10mins in.) L hope this season just a glitch ,next season can get back on Track more about the cases/characters not about the staff..

Very ecological series.
As in: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: plots, storylines, characters, stereotypes...BTW: mixing and matching bits here and there does NOT fool anyone!Even Agatha Christie (the inspiration for Robert Thorogood) managed to tell very similar stories repeatedly without boring you.Technically: partial spoilers ahead, but if you've seen the first 3-4 series, not so much. For me the high point was between episodes 8-2 and 8-8.IE: Ardal 'Dougal O'Hooligan' and the marvellous Shyko Amos (I hope we see her on TV a lot more in future).I agree with another reviewer that AO'H's heart was not in it this series; not unlike Kris Marshall's final episodes.Aude Legastelois/-Bide is an improvement on Josephine Jobert (OK, but only great in her final episodes), but let's face it, who can top Sara Martins as Camille Bordey?JP has become Fidel; Ruby strayed into Dwayne territory; unsurprising that she got the opprobrium, whereas 'macho man' never did.Lazy misogyny as far as I can tell - shame on Writer: James Hall and Director: Jennie Darnell. As for Neville Parker, all the irritations of Richard Poole but none of the charm (hard to find but it's there). The Humphesque final scenes just did not work.Humphrey Goodman was mostly to appeal to the French audience: physical comedy and dopey Englishman abroad. The aforementioned Jack Mooney (Ardal O'H) was a genuinely different character, portrayed by an actually funny man in a truly tongue in cheek style: as an Irish stereotype. We all know that Jack and Ardal were the ones taking the pee out of everyone in so doing: made it entertaining.IE, you knew it was all a rehash, but he was sufficiently diverting; except this series.High time DIP was retired, not even Harry (the shack's resident green lizard) getting a girlfriend can save it now.4 stars not 2 because of Ruby, Madeleine and Harry & friend.Doctor Who can get away with the chopping and changing of characters and Showrunner's style; DIP just does not have the depth, even as a parody.DIP started as a pastiche of several genres, not unlike Neil Simon's Murder By Death, with a well matched cast of stereotypes played, mostly, by experts at their craft. The Grande Dames: Don Warrington (the Commissioner IS Baby Jane - look it up) and Elizabeth Bourgine are the only constants, but even they cannot save a decaying corpse of a series.Sadly it has degenerated into a self-parody.OK as wallpaper when it's cold or even as a backdrop to heatwaves - we don't get Caribbean heat, but not worth full price.I paid £8.99, mostly to complete the Ardal years.I didn't get beyond 5 minutes of episode 6 when broadcast, didn't bother with 7 or 8.I did watch the DVDs through, but although RL improved slightly, the finale consisting of: a cornfield full of arboreal porcines sniffing at mouldy cheese - sucked!I'll be generous and suggest the cast played it as the stinker it was; Uncle Selly: not a large one, a whole CASE of rum might work!

Colourful, pleasant to watch, with more intriguing detection and drama
Well, to be honest, I was between four and five stars. Reading some of the more negative comments, I was actually pleasantly surprised with this series. Granted, it was the usual formula, but I am slowly warming to the bubbly lady police officer, and I enjoyed the more human side of the commissioner. The scenery, colourful clothing and the tropical plants and trees make the programmes visually attractive. I would like to make further ( positive ) comments but I would be giving the game away. I don't mind if we have more of the same in the next series. It is very easy viewing, and I also noticed the return of the "green " character.

Death in Paradise series 9
I don’t care what the critics may say, I love this show, okay! so it may not be the best detective show on the telly, but then, it’s never pretended to be, never pretended to be anything other than a show that has some elements of comedy to stop everything becoming too heavy, a show that is always easy on the eye with some beautiful sunny Landscape scenery that makes one feel good even when watching on a cold or miserable day over here in the U.K.

Not up to its original standards.
After an awfully clunky first episode things pick up somewhat, although the romance between the lead actor and a giggling visitor is unconvincing, irritating and time wasting. Similarly the episode featuring the Lycra wearing cyclist was ludicrous if you imagine how the murderer’s “physique” would have looked in Lycra. That was a really bad piece of casting! I’m not surprised Ardal O’Hanlon left the series shortly after.

Series 9
The latest series of this title. The inspector wants to go home because Island life has too many mozzies, too much heat and too much sun. He feels he is there under duress. The Police Commissioner wants him to go back to England but calamities prevent him from doing so. The Inspector has murders to solve whilst waiting to get back to England. In the end does he go back? Watch and find out.

Fun - but falling
This has been a good series - enjoyable on the whole - but the authors are clearly having some problems keeping up the fun. But - please continue, I have still not had enough.
