Marlysa Sullivan approaches neuroscience and the science of yoga with great humility for the origins of the philosophy and practice of yoga. This foundational, scholarly and readable book lays the groundwork for our understanding of yoga and yoga therapy. Written with writer, editor and yoga therapist Laurie Hyland Robertson, Understanding Yoga Therapy is both primary text for anyone interested in Yoga Therapy and an inspiring read.

New concepts, theories and practices that help understand and connect with the concepts presented.
A must read for those teaching yoga and for those on their path to become a yoga therapist. It will improve your understanding of body-mind regulations. I paused few times thinking I would like to go over this book more than one time to solidify the information.

It will give you insight to the details in yoga therapy.
It is a magnificent book. As a yoga teacher,I seem to be using it constantly to explain in lay terms the breath work and the benefits of giving feeling to parts of the body. Even bringing color and awareness to sensations. Just an incredible book.

This engaging and scholarly book is as much a work of philosophy as it is a textbook on integrative health. If you want to understand yoga therapy, this is your primary source.

You will not be the same yoga teacher/therapist after reading this book!
Thank you Dr. Sullivan! This book is highly impressive and comprehensive. There is not a wasted page in this book. Everything is beneficial. And the immersive experiences are my favorite part. I will buy this book for my daughter (and she's 1 right now) so that she can always have it.

My yoga therapy bible
Marlysa Sullivan skillfully put together the science and philosophy of yoga in one book. Her writing is clear and succinct, supported by her years of experience in the field. The book is sectioned into three parts: the first one takes you through the yogic philosophy with reference to the Bhagavad Gita, second focuses on the biopsychosocial-spiritual and neurophysiological model of integrative health pertinent to yoga therapy, and last part centres around the application both of science and yogic philosophy for optimal health.I cannot recommend this book enough. Marlysa Sullivan's authenticity shone through the lines and she shared generously her knowledge.
