Turner watercolor box
Great for transporting watercolor supplies to class or painting out doors. Fits short and long handle brushes with room for a few extra supplies. The palette holds watercolors well and shuts nice and tight. The brush holder also acts as an easel.

Very nice -- perfect with some easy modifications
The media could not be loaded. I am using this to store my watercolor brushe, a few pigments, and a couple of other tools I want to have handy when I am practicing watercolor(pencil, eraser, fine tipped pen. paper towel). I removed the palette because I already have a ceramic palette which I prefer, but the included one might be nice if I wanted to take this on a hike. I expect to use this mostly at home. The box is well made and well-packaged. I was pleased with the finishing and the hardware, and I like that when it is opened fully, with the brushes exposed, that the main hinge stops, keeping the brushes in an upright position. I was surprised when I reopened the box after first putting it away with brushes and paints loaded. As I opened the first part of the lid, revealing the brush tips, I noticed that they were a little disarranged at angles to each other rather than completely parallel. That wouldn't have been such a big deal by itself --I'm not that persnickety -- but when I opened the lid fully to the upright position, the brushes fell out and landed at angles on and outside the box. I thought at first that I maybe needed to be more careful when setting it down after closing it, but that turned out not to be the issue. I was disappointed because I really like the box. I decided to see if I could make it work better for me. I added a strip of poster-mounting putty to the base where the ends of the brush handles rest. I kneaded it until fairly soft and stuck into the wood then made little indents in the putt with the ends of the brush handles after placing the brushes in the holes. I closed it up, even shook it around a bit to test it, and when I reopened it the brush handles were all properly aligned. When fully opening it to the upright position, everything stayed in place as it should. The brushes came loose from the putty easily enough (and without any residue) so I judged that modification a success. My next modification came when I realized that some of my brush handles were short enough that the bristles (rather than the ferules) were resting against the edges of the holes. I was concerned that long-term that might not be good for the brushes, so I found a small block of packing foam that had come in with something and used it to create a raised platform for part of the base. I chose not to make it the entire length of the base because some of the brushes did not need to be raised. I added another piece of putty to the top of this platform and also stuck the platform to the base of the brush stand with putty. This ended up working just as I intended. A small block of wood would be more elegant, but I didn't have one handy and Idecided to make do with the foam for the time being. Modification # 3 might not be necessary depending on your brush types. I have an oval mop brush that I use for large washes, and the ferule is wide enough that It wouldn't fit all the way through the top set of holes, resulting in the handle end being suspended rather than resting on the putty strip. It looked to me as though there was sufficient room to enlarge one of the holes at either end of the top set of holes to accommodate the wider ferule. Idon't have any experience using a Dremel tool, so I asked my husband if he thought it would work to make the desired modification. He thought it could be done without damaging the integrity of the box, and was able to enlarge the hole in just a few minutes. Modification #3 a success! Unfortunately, I took the pictures of the enlarged opening before I realized I hadn't fully removed the sawdust from the Dremel tool. I should emphasize that the box, as I received it had no sawdust or rough edge; it. was properly finished. Now, I realize that for some people, having to make these modifications would be annoying and would dissuade them from purchasing this box. I hope that isn't the case for most people. I, personally, found great satisfaction in solving the problems and making modifications myself with materials I had on hand (except for the enlarged hole, which my husband did for me.). And to begin with, it is a beautifully made little box that I really wanted to keep -- I just wanted it to work as I envisioned it should. I also think it is important to support the craftspeople who make things like this box. It would be so easy to buy a plastic art tool box, but I like wood and I try to avoid plastic whenever there is a more natural and environmentally-friendly alternative. Also, if you have brushes with longer handles, and without wide ferrules, none of the modifications would be necessary, with the possible exception of adding a strip of putty to the base to help secure the brush handles. That might not even be required with longer brushes, but I don't have any, so I can't say.

Storage box
There’s a nice little storage box, but not worth much beyond that. Price is right.
