Under that flap is additional text and a matching illustration.The text, by author Sam McKendry, is very simple for young pre-readers. Simone Abel's illustrations are cute and colorful. The board pages are thick and sturdy and will stand up to much abuse. On the other hand, the tabs are a bit flimsy. Instead of being "carved" out of the thick page, the flaps are thin cardboard that are glued on top of the page. This makes them very easy to pull off.- AnnaLovesBooks
