These lights can be mounted anywhere in the tool box. The lights are water and ice proof via a silicone coating protecting the lights. All ends are sealed with silicone to prevent damage to the strips from water and ice. Strips come with 3M adhesive backing on them to allow installation on most clean, dry surface. Each kit includes a 24", 36", or 48" strip with a switch to allow for automatic on/off when opening and closing the lid. The switch is small and mounts near the top of the box. The second piece mounts on the lid so that the 2 pieces are within 3/4" of each other when the lid is closed. The strip has 5' of wire attached for the ground and 20' of wire attached to the positive side so it can be easily ran to any constant 12v power source.
