Compatible with VLC, IP Cam Viewer, iSpy, MangoCam, and Others
KUCAM 1080P works with a wide variety of apps over the Internet. I tested VLC, IP Cam Viewer (Android), iSpy (open source), MangoCam (cloud recording) as well as the built-in web server. The camera works as expected. It's an excellent value. I took off one star for insufficient documentation and non-existent website. The KUCAM 1080P appears to use an API similar to the WANSVIEW NCM-628W/NCM-630GB so you may be able to use that camera model where KUCAM 1080P isn't supported.Internet Setup Tips:1. Get the camera working on the local network.2. Change router settings to port forward local network IP and port 554. This requires some geek skills.3. Enter connection information. Substitute actual password for "password", (private/public) ip address for "example.com" (e.g. 192.168.1.201), (private/public) port number (e.g. 8001 (public) or 554 (private) for nnnn.VLC - rtsp://admin:[email protected]:nnnn/live/ch0MangoCam - Brand: Generic /live/ch0 or WANSVIEW NCM-628W/NCM-630GBIP Cam Viewer - Make: Generic, Model: Generic RTSP over TCP, URL: rtsp://example.com:nnnn/live/ch0Web Browser - enter ip address. Only Internet Explorer will work for viewing as the camera requires an ActiveX plugin. However, any browser will work for non-viewing operations such as modifying settings.Update 25-Oct-2015: Update 31-Oct-2015: MangoCam (cloud recording service) keeps reporting decode errors. At first I thought the issue was bandwidth starvation or such. Now I've verified it is due to audio recording being enabled. Works fine when audio recording is disabled.Update 14-Dec-2015: Corrected compatibility to state WANSVIEW NCM-628W/NCM-630GB.

Strong/High Recommednation for KUCAM 1080p X Series IPCam
I rated this top 5 stars. I already looked up some tips about setup/config this device. When the shipment arrived, eager to see it working, I quickly lookup Youtube "Kucam 1080p setup", I found few hits. One video about 5mins long explained the method of using Mobile phone to setup WIFI for the camera. The process was extremely easy. Power on IPcam, & let it does it calibration (camera moved horizontal and vertical & stopped), then the light is flashing slowly ready for the setup. From Samsung S7 Android phone, I installed iSmartViewPro app. I launched the app, scan the QR scan to register camera's serial number to phone. The click "more" at bottom lower corner, to bring up "One key configure Wi-Fi", then press Configure. The phone sounds a sequence of audio tone. The camera "listens" to this tone, when it recognized the tone sequence, it beeps, and the blue light flashing quickly. This meant, camera now just learned of WIFI's setting and set it to camera. That's it. I can now monitor video, and sound from the camera. That was that easy. However, the actual management of the camera, I had some challenges. It took me about one day to figure out. First, from my Windows 10 laptop connected to the same WIFI, I searched google for Kucam X series manual. Later, I realized, I can go to cd.ipcamdata.com to get the manual. And also to download SearchPro Toolv1.03 to laptop. I launched this searchpro tool in my Windows 10. By default, the web browser is Windows Edge (This new browser is completely new to me), so I didn't know how to use it. Anyway, click the search button, it found my camera. it prompts me for id/pw, I entered the default admin/123456. It repeatedly prompted that credential is incorrect. Then I installed SearchPro to my old WIndows-7 PC. Here, I wouldn't have MS Edge, and when I click on the camera (after found it), it just doesn't bring up IE or Firefox browser. So, I was tuck here for half a day, didn't what to do. Somehow I learned the IP address of my camera, 192.168.0.7. Then I skipped using SearchPro, but use IE to go directly to this IP. Bang, it worked. I was able to see enter admin/123456, and it allows me to gain access to the camera, and I can manage/setup/configure camera from that point. After gaining access to management of camera, I continued to explore, and was able achieve most the tasks I needed/wanted to do (e.g. changing default password, setup scheduled recordings, setup snapshot recordings, save config to a fie, configure On-Screen-Display - OSD for date/time to overlay video, etc. ANother challenging part was to setup the SMTP for email, I spent 2 hrs searching google to understand and entered correct info for SMTP setup, finally the test email worked.I am very impressed with the quality of the screen resolution, and also able to select lower resolution, when I don't have WIFI connection. I am amazed that I can remotely control Pan-Tilt-Zooming, and preset several fixed locations, then recall presets quickly. It also surprised me that it has an audio jack, allowing to connect to a small speaker, then I can "talk" to the camera out to the speaker from the mobile phone, as well as hear clear sounds from the camera to my mobile phone. The Night vision works well too.The ability to watch the live monitor from my phones (Android or iPhone), easily, and w/o any difficulty/issues, also is one good item. This is my 2nd camera. My first one is Logitech Alert model 750. I have had that one for 4 years. But this newer Kucam X series is a light year improvement, and the cost is very affordable from amazon. I folded my Logitech and selling it to a friend, so I can purchase more Kucam IPcam to place in different locations.I strongly recommend this camera to anyone. But, after initial setup to mobile phone, READ the MANUAL carefully, as it is not a well written instruction. Some sections were confusions as such, it was written somewhere else out of US, and many syntax errors.

This camera worked great, at first
This camera worked great, at first. After a few months we could not both view the camera with our smartphones at the same time, when we first got the camera we could. After about 3 months the camera would randomly freeze, and then disconnect. The 1st time we noticed this was in the middle of the night. Unacceptable when used it as a baby monitor. The picture on the screen shows our son sleeping just fine, but it is a frozen image from who knows how long ago. We contacted the manufacturer and asked to return it. They instead sent us new firmware, which did not fix the problem. Less than a week later they sent us the newest firmware, also not a fix. It has been many weeks and we still have not been able to return the camera. We had to but another one. Kucam told us the connection issue may be because it is to cold, the weather could cause issues. Since we live in Wisconsin, I guess they are saying not to buy the camera unless you live somewhere where it is warm all year. Unacceptable. The company made things right and issued a refund, and also said they are sending another camera. I have high hopes for the new one as the audio and video are quite good.
