Chicago Fire: Season 3

A great third season
Season three of Chicago Fire sees the first major cast turnover in the show, with two series regulars departing. One of the departures is a carryover from the season two cliffhanger with a death that shakes up the firehouse at the outset of the season and continues to have major ramifications throughout the season, including in one of the crossover episodes with Chicago PD. The other departure comes toward the end of the season. I will not say who the characters are or which one died so as not to spoil anything for people who may not have seen the season episodes yet, but if you are a fan of another, now recently concluded series, you will know who one of the characters that left the show is, and why the actor left.As far as season three goes, it is much in the same vein as the first two seasons with story arcs of various sizes and importance, that play out between emergencies. Some of those this season include Cheif Borden, becoming a dad, Casey getting in deep with shady people through his construction gig, Severide's spiraling personal life, and more. Throughout the season, there are a couple of crossover events that include Fire, PD, and Law and Order SVU, including calling back to a case from SVU 10 years prior. Season three again ends on a big cliffhanger, but much different than the one in the season two finale. This season also includes an introduction to the new show, Chicago Med, as well as an episode that is basically a backdoor pilot for Med, which would premiere the next year. This is much the same as what was done to launch Chicago PD. Some of the series regular cast members from Med made at least one appearance on Fire, and of course characters from Chicago PD appeared regularly on Fire in small cameo drop-ins throughout the season. For those who get the DVD, the bonus material includes behind-the-scenes featurettes for each episode and the episodes from Chicago PD and Law and Order SVU that were a part of the crossover events. Overall, the show continues to be well-written and well-acted. It is a bit soap-opera-ish because of the fact that there is, for the most part, not a case of the week but accidents that are mainly resolved within a few minutes of screen time. That said, the show does a good job balancing out the soap opera-like elements with the job-related elements to keep the show from getting too cheesy and keeping it interesting. If you were a fan of the first couple of seasons of the show it is definitely worth sticking with for the third season.

A Really Good Show-- Happy Birthday Matt !!
My oldest son, who has special needs, turns 37 next Monday October 23, 2017. He absolutely LOVES this show!! He asked for Season 3 to add to his collection. The young lady of color front center of the DVD box cover (don't know her name) used to be in the series Lie To Me and we all loved that show. So when Chicago Fire first came on and my son saw her he went bonkers. I don't get to watch this show as my son does but I get to catch some of it before dinner or early in the morning with him as he streams it on HULU. A really good show.

One of the best shows on local channels and I watch very few
One of the best shows on local channels and I watch very few. Channel nine and the Canadian channels are also viewed with frequency. I abhor the mind-numbing reality shows; the never ending shows with violence when we have but to venture into the daily news of the reality of where this country is headed. I prefer to expand my mind by picking up a book. But I digress. I like the characters that bring life to the show Chicago Fire. I especially like Kelly who lost who I think was the love of his life (although she was gay). He has the look of still being in pain over that loss and I hope that sometime in the series he can find someone worthy of the love and respect he deserves. He loved Shay for who she was - even though she could not return it as he might have wished.

good show
I had never seen this show but it sounded pretty good. I started with season 3 because at the time it was the cheapest season available. I thought it was pretty entertaining. I loaned it to my sister and her husband; they weren't sure about it but they said they would try it. After they were finished watching it, they wondered when I was going to get the other seasons. They couldn't wait to see the rest. It does have CC (or subtitles) for the hearing impaired and some extras.

I thought oh great another firefighter series so I waited to watch
I wasn't enthused about starting Chicago Fire. I thought oh great another firefighter series so I waited to watch. Finally one day I was going through my Amazon Instant Video and saw Chicago Fire Season 1 and thought what the heck let me give this a try (this was three weeks ago). Well I began watching the premier episode in Season 1 and was hooked from that moment on. I watched all 3 seasons (up to this week) and I am blown away by how great a show it is. The character development is flawless. The story lines are accurate and pretty true to reality. The show has adventure, drama, comedy, sadness all rolled up into one show. I highly recommend this show. You will not be sorry.

Can't stop watching
Good stuff. "Burning" through these pretty fast. The series knows how to ratchet up the tension. Seems there is always a bad guy about somewhere. Nicely done series. The cross-over episodes also work.

Upset...
Let me start by stating my DVDs we're shipped with my laundry detergent 😡 when I received my DVD season 3 the case was all busted and broke. The DVDs were fine, but now I have no clean, safe place to store them. I will be contacting the seller about an exchange.

Another strong season
Season 3 resumes after the cliffhanger at the end of season 2, and sadly we lose a regular character, but on the positive side we do get a fresh face who is another good addition to the show. I enjoyed this season just as much as the first two. The crossovers with P.D. are included, and there are some early appearances from the future cast of Chicago Med. Lots of great action, plenty of drama and humour to go with it. Looking forward to season 4.

Chicago's hot & fiery...
Arrived a day late, think this was more the fault of Royal Mail & not the sender.Excellent series & well worth the wait. Season 3 starts where season 2 left off, but with an unexpected twist. Not to give the storyline away. Would recommend this product to friends.

Continuation from S1 and S2
Bought to continue along with the CF series. Continues on from the previous, with the bonus of including Chicago Police/Law and Order SVU crossover episodes as well!Only problem I can really say is the menu design and layout if completely different to that of S1 and S2 box sets- however you do get used to how to navigate it eventually.
