DML801 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 12 L.E.D. Flashlight, Flashlight Only, Black

Bought this and the Makita DML806 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless L.E.D. Lantern/Flashlight Tool . Have a really hard time picking favorites, but decided to buy a second of these for work based on it's extreme usefulness. If you don't need something to double as a lantern, this is the way to go. It's also $20 cheaper, although still priced quite high for a flashlight. If you don't have the Makita batteries and charger, this is an insanely expensive light that totally isn't worth the money. If you do have the Makita LXT tools and batteries, you probably already know how great they work. You probably also have a spare battery at least partially charged ready to go. Being able to snap a battery on at a moments notice makes this a really great tool. If you've ever went for several flashlights only to find all are dead and require 3 AAA batteries to be changed you know the hassle. The light swivels in just about any direction you could ask for, and makes it really fantastic for directing a bright, cool to the touch light (as much as the smell of oil burning on a 75 watt bulb sets the mood). The hook makes it great for the hood, and the size of the light neck allows it to fit into tight spaces. It has a great grip that's always easy to hold and not lose control of. Many of the metal flashlights, including the Xtreme Bright Multipurpose Work Light & Lantern; Hands-Free Retractable Automotive LED Light Bar Attaches To Any Metal Surface. More Than A Basic Handheld Flashlight -Ultimate Camping Lantern are difficult to hold. The Makita has a great grip, and also has the battery pack weight on the bottom to keep it standing on most flat surfaces.

I started buying the Makita cordless products a few months ago and this was high on my to buy list as I often end up working on things as the sun sets. This has not let me down I have probably used it more than my drill grinder and impact driver combined though the driver is in a commanding second place. The light has proven great for everything from grilling after dark to brakes and oil changes as the sun sets after work. The overall build quality is top notch and the grip is sure when holding with cold, numb, or just greasy hands. Maneuvering the head to point at the work I'm doing is easy and steady once it is set. The 2 hanging hooks( 1 built into the head and 1 on a strap that goes between the base by the battery to the swivel joint) make setting my workspace up a breeze. Our grill has a small roof shelter above it and the lights hooks hang it nicely above the grill and allow me to see how things are cooking without risking my phone over the flame. This stays in my car with the charger and spare battery and is a comfort for if I should need to use it. There are 2 brightness settings which are essentially blinding and mostly blinding if you're looking at it but to illuminate a space the light is bright yet diffuse enough to be of real use over an area in either setting. It is not a spotlight and so has low distance use though it has been used to search across the yard more than once for 1 thing or another. Overall a sturdy feeling light and powerful as need be in the vast majority of situations

Great light

I really like this Makita led light. I have bought two of them because one was for me and the other for my husband. it is so useful that my husband use it in his wood works where there is not enough light. Under the bottom cabinets, everywhere . Also you can use the 18v makita batteries from 3amps up to 5am. You can use it all day with the 3amp and still you have power in it. You can adjust it to the ceiling to the floor etc. and diminish the light to a confortable one depending on your needs. It is a led white light . I also bought one as a present for our son and is really happy with the new Makita light. Great product, affordable price and long lasting item .Will recommend to everybody. You don’t know when you’re going to need it.

I have a few other work lights, but there are features about this one that I especially like. The tool manufacturers are all creating full lines of battery operated tools. Because the batteries often cost as much as the tool, it pretty much forces one to choose one company and stick with it, so that the batteries can be used interchangeably between tools. I've settled on Makita, as I've found their tools to be consistently well made and comfortable in the hand. Apart from that, what I like about this light is that: 1. It's bright. It has two settings, and the "high" is easy to work with. I've used it in attics and crawl spaces and was able to see my work clearly. 2. The head is hinged in two places, so can be directed to wherever I need it. 3. Can balance on the battery, but there is also a hook built into the head, enabling it to be suspended easily. It also comes with a strap and hook, further expanding its versatility.. 4. Long battery life. Will remain bright for hours--how long, I haven't found out yet. The one feature I found annoying is that the on/off button is hard to see. It's incorporated into the back (palm) side of the grip, is the same black rubber, and is flush, so it can be hard to locate. I just painted it green. Problem solved.

I like these so much I just bought a second one. The first had the old part number, but I can't see any other difference between the two. I also have the DML802, also a nice light. If I had to choose between the two, I'd take the 801 because it is more versatile. The articulated head and two power settings make it possible to use the light to illuminate a room, as a table lamp, a flashlight, or for project illumination. On high it is very bright, and also very usable on low.The light spreads out quite a bit, like a flood light. If you need a more focused beam, go for the DML802. This light stands up well, and the built in foldable hook is very handy for creating room illumination or for hanging under a car hood. Folding the head down against the handle protects the lens somewhat and turns the whole light into a smaller package.for storage or travel. For the price, I'd like to see a carry case. The switch is a bit odd in that it faces the palm side of the handle, much more awkward than putting it in the trigger position. In the trigger position it would be blocked when the head is folded down, which may explain the location. I'd rather see it there anyway. As with most Makita 18v devices, this is way too expensive for anyone who has not already invested in Makita batteries.

This is a great little light. The battery base makes it very stable, and the light head twists and points in any direction, so you can set it down on any flat surface and then point the light right where you need it. I've probably run it 5-6 hours so far, and the 5 amp battery is still showing 3 out of 4 bars of life remaining. So basically this thing will go all day on one charge.

Avevo provato la torcia BML802 che mi è arrivata 2 volte senza il gancio di sospensione, dopo averla restituita 2 volte ho ordinato questo prodotto che di ganci di sospensione ne ha addirittura 2. E' utilizzabile quindi nelle situazioni più difficili ed è orientabile in tutte le direzioni. Può essere appoggiata sulla base o su un lato ed orientata consentendo di lavorare sempre in condizioni ottimali di illuminazione. Il fascio luce è ampio e dura un'eternità con la batteria da 5A. La consiglio vivamente.

Die Lampe hat eine Menge Verstellmöglichkeiten am Kopf. Man kann sie in alle Möglichen Richtungen drehen und somit genau das beleuchten was beleuchtet werden soll. Das Licht ist diffus und blendet nicht, leuchtet aber gut aus. Die Lampe hat einen Aufhängehaken am Kopf und am Tragegurt. Beide Haken sind drehbar. Somit gibt es eine Menge Möglichkeiten die Lampe aufzuhängen und genau auszurichten. Sie ist stabil und trotzdem leicht. Mit einem 5 Ah Akku läuft sie locker über 5 Stunden auf hoher Leistung. Auf halber Leistung sind nur die Hälfte der LEDs an, wenn man mal weniger Licht benötigt. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist super. Selbst bei Ryobi gibts für den Preis keine so gute Lampe. Wenn eine Arbeits- oder Campinglampe dann diese.

Mine came in a blister pack with an additional two-point strap with hook accessory that you need to attach yourself. That's not been used yet, but the built-in hook and adjustable head have already made the lamp indispensable. The two modes use 12 or 6 LEDs respectively. I've found the 6 LED option bright enough and an 18v 4ah battery will run for 30 hours plus in that mode. The lamp is very stable as the battery forms the base, so there's no frustration with it falling over if the head is angled in certain ways. It was originally bought as a light source when chasing out cable runs and inspecting floor voids, but the run-time also makes it ideal for camping; two fully charged batteries will easily see you through a week or so. It's since come on holiday with us and has been indispensable, especially when unloading/loading the car in the dead of night. Issues? None. If I could change it in any way, I'd add 3 or 4 LED mode I guess, but I'm nit-picking, and overall it's a great way to reuse DIY kit for something recreational.
