Catholic Men's Bible-Nabre

I really like this translation (NAB) it’s easy to understand I use along with my KJV personal concord from Cambridge bibles, there’s plenty of space for taking notes, ghosting isn’t bad, the font size is perfect for me, might be a problem with guys with failing eyesight, the layout is nice, study notes are brief and to the point nothing overwhelming which is a perfect bible for a new believer but those who have experience with God’s Word will definitely benefit as well. Book introductions are short and sweet, references are very useful comparing scripture with scripture is always the best way to study the bible, I know these modern bible translations get a lot of negative reviews and I understand both sides of the argument, hence the reason I use along side my KJV bible which is my preferred translation but can be a challenge at times especially with books like Jeremiah Ezekiel etc, the NAB keeps it as clear as possible so I would be comfortable handing down this to my 2 year old son when he’s 13 years old or even younger, it will be a blessing from God to teach my son everything about our Lord and savior Jesus Christ through His Word The Bible and how easy salvation is for everyone who believe and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation. My husband was looking for a new Bible and I wanted to get him something that also had some devotions in it. This was an awesome option. First the logistical side of things. The Bible is a nice size making it easy to carry around by hand (or slip into a bag if your guy is OK with carrying a bag). The pages are fairly thin but not so thin that they tear when you flip them. in fact, they hold up to putting Bible tabs on them. When you write on the pages the ink doesn't bleed through but shows up well. Be careful if you use a marker or hilighter, though. Test it. One he used was fine and another did show through on the other side of the page. The cover is also pretty sturdy.The important thing is that it is a great Bible. It is easy to read and the footnotes are clear and pretty typical for any Catholic bible. But what makes it great is that the reflections are relevant to today and easy to read. They were relatable. The only thing that could have made it better is if there were more of them and if they were placed better in relation to the passages they refer to. But overall an awesome Bible that I highly recommend.I purchased this product at full price and all the opinions in this review are my own.

Picked this up for my son (10 years old) since switching over to homeschool we've added daily Bible study with questions and answers. He has been begging me for a more grown up Bible so I wanted to find one that would grow with him. I know that with this Bible and the commentary added by Father Larry my young son will grow into a fine young man and a great Catholic.

Father Larry Richards is an extremely dynamic speaker. It is worth mentioning that his material from Catholic Lighthouse media cd's his other two books "Surrender! The Life Changing Power of Doing God's Will" and "Be A Man!: Becoming the Man God Created You to Be?" are also very good but some of his material gets repeated in a different fashion throughout his 100+ writings in this Bible. It is good to know that he sticks to his guns when it comes to writing notes and being hard on men to stick it to them. I have yet to read through all of his notes in this But I would encourage any man to get this Bible over any other Bible because there are many themes in some of his notes that he does a good job of explaining the church's stance on it through his personal stories. If you like the more boisterous or extremely entertaining speakers, Father Larry Richards writes everything in the same way that he speak and deliver it orally. I hope that you enjoy and learn more about the faith as you read his notes as I have.

Physically, the print is clear and easy to read. Standard footnotes. But the big attraction for me are the study pages throughout the Bible. That is the major reason I bought it and Father Richards does not disappoint. I also have his excellent books "Be A Man" and "Surrender" and listen to him on EWTN and youtube

My fiance was not the Bible reading type and I had been trying to get him into more Bible studies- with my very different variations and translations to choose from. He loves his new Bible and says the devotional or thoughtful content in this one is very relevant. We work opposite schedules (he works nights, I work days) so I often come home to find his Bible open on the table like it has been used. I highly recommend this Bible. Only down side to this Bible is that it is paperback and not hard cover.

I very much enjoy the content by Fr Larry Richards. Having read his books and seen him in person give talks, he is an authentic follower of Christ and a fantastic priest. His emphasis on making prayer a daily commitment is so necessary, particularly for Catholic men and fathers.The overall look of this bible is ok. In many ways, the page layout is very readable, perhaps one of the best for the NABRE translation. They did a great job with the spacing and with the use of bold to make a pleasing reading bible. All of the NABRE notes and cross-references are there too.I have only three minor quibbles:1) I really dislike the glossy inserts. Not the content of them, which is quite wonderful, but the thick glossy prints which make it difficult, at times, to keep the Bible open and flat. I wish they would either integrate them into the text or use a thinner paper.2) I wish they had added Sunday Mass readings and some maps. Seems like there is just more they could add to this volume to raise the quality of it. There are a number of great Protestant men’s bibles that are made with a much higher degree of quality and care.3) It should really come in more options than simply paperback.
