Westinghouse 6695500 Lantern Post with Ground Convenience Outlet and Dusk to Dawn Sensor, Black

The post arrived quickly and in good shape. The instructions were minimal but typical for this kind of product. The instructions relate to wiring the fixture but no real information about the method of installing it in the ground. My installation was challenging as I was replacing an old fixture which I found had been installed over a still older post that had broken off in the old concrete. I had to relocate the new pole and electric to avoid that area. I had to drill a hole in the side of the new post to thread the electrical wires. I was unsure of how to do this, but after some internet sleuthing and YouTube videos I was able to successfully drill the hole and install the pole in concrete. I probably took 3x longer than necessary to install the light as I was trying to be extra careful. Although the installation was difficult, only the lack of installation instructions and the access hole related to the actual product. The rest was due to my specific site problems. After I was done, I really liked the result. I am using the outlet to power a spotlight and the light I purchased from a big box retailer is working well with the photo sensor. Now all I need is my clematis to grow up it and the look will be complete.

This item arrived in perfect condition. The company must have improved their shipping method because many of the older reviews noted lots of problems with damage due to poor packing. This item came double boxed, and inside the inner box was several styrofoam sections that floated the post inside the inner box. The post was also wrapped in plastic. The paint on the post was flawless. The photocell and outlet were very easy to install. The ladder rest is metal, unlike many other ones out there.My only complaint is that the post does not have a side hole near the bottom to run the electrical cable up the post. It would need to be fed through the bottom, which in my case was fine.Also, don't make the same mistake I initially did when testing the dusk to dawn sensor. After I installed it during the day, I covered it with about 8 pieces of colored tape but the post light still would not turn on. I bypassed the sensor and confirmed the post light worked fine, so I assumed the sensor was bad. Before I spent more money buying a new sensor or trying to get a sensor under warranty, I grabbed a heavy black jacket, completely covered the sensor with it, and the light immediately turned on.

Looks nice, however like others have stated mine had a small dent in it in a very noticeable spot so I had to face the outlet towards the front in order to not see the dent every day. The bottom also had a dent however it went it the ground so it wasn't a big deal.

Overview:As described.Experience:No surprises here, Works as intended. No prewire, outlet box and photo sensor require install and you will need your own wire and connectors. It is what is is, heavy and good quality, outlet box is minimal and plastic but not like is being used daily...so no problem. I bought "used will come in orig. packaging" from Amazon warehouse at quite a discount and sure enough box was orig. and also shredded but inside everything was pristine. Very pleased.

I got this post to replace an existing, hardwired post lamp. The electrician I hired found it easy to install. It sits several inches into the cement pad and seems sturdy. It comes with anchor hooks, but my set up didn't require them. It was important to me that the post have a 'dusk to dawn' sensor for automatically turn on and off and this one comes with that. I also like that it has an electrical socket on the post which will make it easy for adding decorations such as a lighted wreath at Christmas. It arrived well packaged and in perfect condition.

Arrived dented on the front but by the time I noticed it was already wired up and we didn’t feel like uninstalling and waiting for a replacement.Sensor doesn’t work, not sure if it’s installed right but as you can see it’s still on in the daylight.

We got this installed in our backyard. Has an outlet on top along with a bar to hang stuff (if needed). We did have the contractor pour concrete to install it. But now it’s there, works and looks great.

Bought after learning a replacement cedar light post was hundreds of dollars. This has a built in weather tight outlet and dusk to dawn sensor for well under 100 bucks. Looks great, painted existing light and reinstalled on this pole. Was easy to install and wire. I used an automotive undercoating on any part buried but you really don't have to.

The poles were easy to install. Light sensor and outlet easy to install and works well. The only thing we would have preferred was an access hole near the bottom of the pole for the wire to enter; we drilled one ourselves. We prefer the pole not to be resting on the wire. You could have put the wire in a plastic pipe but then it's getting more complicated.All in all, very happy!

Simple, elegant design. The daylight sensor turns the light on and off at just the right time. The electrical outlet is located at the top so you can use it even when there is three feet of snow on the ground. There is nothing to dislike about this post.

The photo electric light sensor didn't work, a replacement was shipped by Westinghouse (the part was under warranty) Great company easy to deal with

We adore our "Narnia Lamppost". It arrived on time. Strong packaging so it was not damaged. It looks lovely day or night or helps our security cameras because the City Streets are so DARK. We LOVE IT. (I'll warn you - be prepared to big a DEEP HOLE, but after that is easy to install)

The lamp works excellent but the pole mounting on the support was not steady so i used 3 screws to support it, happy with it but a little more work for proper installation.
