PlasMetal Artillery!
Wendy O hits top gear on this one, it bleeds pure Heavy Metal, taking it as a rock piece per se it does the business ;as an emotive expression it bangs the hammer; as a testament to an artiste it is all but faultless.Compact disc or grenade ,one and the same!!Maximus Metalicus.(The cover of Motorheads "No Class" is pure class).

Great band, great album!
It's very sad that it has taken the death of the remarkable Wendy O Williams, vocalist with the Plasmatics, to generate sufficient demand for albums such as this to be released on CD after so many years. But, it's better that they are available than not. This is a great one, and highly regarded. Buy it while you can, try to work out what the songs are really all about, and then compare your conclusions with those of Plasmatics expert Anna Sthetic through her website. But even if you don't want to get into the environmental and other political messages hidden in the lyrics, you can still rock with one of the heaviest - and most melodic - rock bands ever!

One of the Great Metal Albums of the 80s
The Plasmatics are an underrated Punk/Metal band whose outrageous image and front-woman overshadowed their music. Coup D'etat is the band's magnum opus and worthy of mention among the best metal albums of the 80s. The album is full of crunch, speed and savagery. Wendy O's growl is unmatched and so is the band's lyrical cynicism. Just Like On TV still blows me away every time I hear it. Awesome album. 5 stars.

Outrageous and unrepentant!
This is, IMHO, the best Plasmatics/W.O.W. album. She "sings" with an angry growl, the music is hard and punchy. I don't consider this punk music as much as I consider it metal. Outrageous and unrepentant. I have 2 copies, one LP that I've have since I was a teen after seeing "The Damned" on USA network's Night Flight that has split seams and has been played a couple hundred times, and an LP in much better shape that I got on here last fall.

Frickin' Amazing!
If you are into the Plasmatics then all that I can say is...Just buy It! It's an excellent album from beginning to end.

Breathtaking expression of anger and dissatisfaction
This is the fourth (counting the Metal Priestess EP) and last real Plasmatics album. It is an incredible piece of work. The intensity and anger that one 105 lb. woman can spit out is shocking. This is the epitome of the Plasmatics' critique of (and challenge to) societal values and standards. This album was made after two years of touring, during which Wendy O Williams was arrested numerous times, beat up by the police, and banned at numerous sites. Her disillusionment is so thick you can practically taste it. The Plasmatics evolved very quickly during their career and this album is very little like the first two albums, which I feel contained much more simple fun "club music." This album is much more raw - "Put Your Love In Me" is one of the hardest songs I've ever heard. This is the album where Wendy perfected her distinctive and hairy-raising scream.Enjoy it, this is one of my favorites.

Punk rock turns classic Metal
I had this LP back in Jr. high and forgot about the Shock-Punk rock band Plasmatics. Their first few albums rocked, but were short and sweet. Nothing like these freaks and Wendy O Williams carried the flag with her crazy antics and skimpy outfits. coup D'etat is their 3rd album and when they crossed over into more of a metal sound. All 10 tracks really rock it and somehow I remembered the lyrics after 25 years. The remastered cd/album packaging is cool and got for under $10. Def check this one out and move backwards in the catalog.
