Finally a solution that works
We have a wood table and had a separate glass cover custom made to protect the wood... however our messy toddler was still able to get food/liquid in between the glass and the actual table. When food would dry in between the glass and the wood, it would peel off some of the finish when being cleaned. Regular placemats were useless because there was no "overhang" to prevent food from entering into that space. The Kiddy Platter does just that. I agree that it doesn't completely stay in place, so it may not be most effective for younger children, but for toddlers and older, it is fantastic.

My son loves this, but he tends to lift it up and play with it during the meal
My son loves this, but he tends to lift it up and play with it during the meal, I love how robust and light weight and safe this tray is, but I wish it has suction cups on the bottom to prevent my over active son from constantly lifting it up and see what's underneath the tray b/c he find the transparency of the tray very amusing.

Wonderful Tray!
UPDATE: I orignally gave this product 5 stars because it was wonderful and just what we needed. However, it does not wear very well. I was putting it in the dishwasher as it did state it was dishwasher safe. A few months later the rubber rim began to come away from the tray. I wrote to the company and they said to try and only hand wash and they sent me a replacement. I was grateful for their fast, prompt service. I still loved the tray and this time around was sure to clean it only by hand and to air dry it. 5 months later though, a crack started to develop in the tray and now, 7 months after we first got it, the crack has grown almost to the entire length of the tray and the rubber rim is starting to come off again. This is such a wonderful product but I'm hesitant to order another one because they don't seem to last very long or wear well. :( Boo!*****************We really love this tray. It's much, much cheaper than the Stokke tray and far superior to the Summer Infant placemat we were using until this came out. The rubber helps keep it from sliding though if your kid is still at the phase where he/she lifts it you will need to use something to keep it down. We use cheap C clamps from the hardware store. This tray is easy to clean and we use it not only at the dinner table but around the house if she is snacking.

Update: Used to love my Kiddy Platter:(
Update: 2/21/2015I purchased my Kiddy Platter roughly a year ago and am so disappointed to report that there is a crack that has formed the entire length of the plastic. I contacted the company to see about a replacement, but I have never heard back. So sad because I really did love this platter and even had a few friends buy it too because of my recommendation, but now it is useless. After reading some of the other reviews, looks like I'm not the only one with this same problem. Shame the company doesn't value their customers enough to even respond to emails. Don't waste your money!Being that I come to Amazon to read reviews before I make any purchase, baby related or not, thought I would come on here to express how happy I am with my Kiddy Platter! For any Canadians reading this I ended up purchasing my platter from The Toy Company in Vancouver.I have the Tripp Trapp high chair and thus was looking for the perfect tray as I didn't want to spend $80 on the Tripp Trapp one and didn't want one of the cheap ones that don't stick properly to tables.I was so excited to find this platter and purchased it based on the online reviews! So far the platter has been amazing! It sticks to our wood table and the food catcher works perfect and now there's way less mess on the floor than before! I love that when my baby gets older she will be able to use the platter for colouring and other arts and crafts!I now have two friends who have bought Kiddy Platters because they were so impressed after seeing mine!Great invention, thank you!!
