It fits the task
I am Facility Manager for a dog medical rehab facility. The food we feed comes in a refrigerated roll and is portioned out according to the dogs weight. And I'm fussy about details. I needed a scale that was reasonably accurate in ounces, easy to read, and has a removable tray to hold the diced up dog food while weighing.I have not bought a set of calibration weights but I have tested the scale with small items of a known weight and it seems accurate. When emptied it always go back to zero. There is a calibration knob if I needed to zero it again, but haven't needed to since initial set-up. Being stainless steel it cleans up well. The tray is a shallow bowl that sits in a cradle atop the scale. There is no danger of it sliding off the scale, and getting the food out of the tray into a dog dish is simple because of the bowl shape. The 32 ounce scale means the increments are a convenient size to see, unlike high capacity scales where the markings for ounces are almost microscopic. You can use it to weigh up to 1000 grams, but I never use that. This scale has been a pleasure to use and reliable. I recommend it.

Works and looks great.
Looks great in my kitchen. FYI... The calibrating screw is brass coloured and found on top side of scale. You should calibrate after installing the mount for the plate. These instructions were not mentioned in the paper that came in the box. Took me 3 minutes to put it together and calibrate. Thumbs up!

Great bread-making scale
I wanted a Penn P-10R but waited too long to buy it and they quit making it. This scale is similar in function so I bought it. I use it for making bread. I learned to make sourdough bread watching videos online. It's amazing how many of those videos imply that you have to have like 612 grams of flour. Does that mean that your bread is going to fail if you accidentally put 613 grams? Of course not.My wife, my mother, my wife's mother, my grandmother, and women all over the globe make bread without fractional gram measurements. Though I agree that weight is a better measure than volume, you don't need a scientific scale to make bread. In fact, I wanted to know how I'd make bread if the battery in my electronic scale quit, so I bought this. I made all the measurements to the lines on this scale and made the same recipe I make with my electronic scale. The bread turned out perfectly. If you want a scale without feeling like a mad scientist making bread, this scale will work great. It's consistently accurate and has enough range of measurements to handle every thing I need for making bread at home without spending hundreds on a baker's scale.

Avoid
This is now the second one returned in a week. Neither work properly. Spoke to customer service at San Jamar, they were very friendly but unhelpful. Both scales were so far off from zero upon arrival that there is no way to calibrate. Only instruction in box are how to screw on the cradle - two obvious screws. Nothing useful on what should be a very easy piece of equipment to use. Avoid and purchase another brand.
