Best bang for your buck!
This hook is great! I saw it on you tube and I thought it was a great idea. I got it and it is very useful. I have dropped my helmet several times, while getting ready to get on the bike, I used to place the helmet in a place that looked secure (mirrors, handlebar, seat), however for one reason or another it ended up falling to the ground and getting scuffed.Since I used the helmet hook the helmets rest in a very secure location, it does not bang against the bike and as a plus you can use a regular lock to secure it to the bike if you choose to do so.The hooks looks big, however you can't notice it once it is installed or when you are riding.

No more helmet drops!!!
Love this hook. Simple to install. Out of the way and not noticeable when riding. Easily able to get a luggage lock and use the holes to lock helmet on hook if need (padlock needs to be longer and thin, bought 2 different ones to find simple one that fits)No more taking up storage under seat or in a trunk box. No hanging from handlebar then falling off when bumped. No hanging on mirror to fall off when bumped or readjusting mirror.Love this product and many people at rallies and rides asked where they could get one. Just need some business cards from to pass out.Very good product, great value and now would never have a bike without one.

Junk, pure junk - don't trust these with your precious helmet!
First of all, the hole is way too big for mounting this centered on the bar ends. So, you have to find washers that will fit (outside diameter) in the round slot with smaller center holes for the screw to go through if you want this centered.Second, if you don't have some kind of spacer, then the end of the handlebar and the bar-end will tighten onto the plastic ring area compressing it.Third, the hook isn't wide enough to handle all but the straightest D-ring on a helmet's chin strap.Fourth, within 24 hours both of the helmet hooks I bought just fell apart, one I found plastic pieces on the garage floor in the morning, and the other as I was trying to hang my $600 Shoei helmet on it, barely saved from dropping. If I could give this a NEGATIVE FIVE-star rating, I would! If you value your helmet, don't use this hook. makes me wonder how easy a thief can just bend the hook a little to break it off the bike an take your helmet with it - especially if you have an expensive commo device installed. And not many single riders carry a spare helmet, just in case!If you get one anyways and drop your helmet - I told you so!

Very Handy Item
This is the perfect accessory. I use it mainly to hold grocery bags while I am opening the top case or saddlebags. It also works great as designed since my helmet will not fit on the stock helmet lock with my saddlebags installed. It was either buy some D ring extenders or this product. No contest, this product is the best choice. Had one on another bike I used to own and it worked great on that bike too.

Nice place to hang your helmet.
Nice device, works as expected. A couple things could have been clearer in the description however. I purchased 3 of these, one for each bike. They went on my Tiger and KLR, on the handlebar where they are designed to go without problems. The hook may be a little on the large side, but they work fine and are still out of the way.On my WIfe's Versys however, the perfect mounting spot would have been further back on the subframe, which is where I mounted it, until I discovered the metal insert shown in the photo isn't really a metal insert, it's a barely friction fit washer, designed to center the hook, not support the hook. It pops right out with no force. Easy enough to snap back in, but relegates its mounting to places where the plastic is sandwiched by other things. (like between the hand guard and grip).Works great as designed, I would have 5 starred it if the metal piece allowed for different mounting options.

One size does not fit all (easily)...
The Helmet Hook is a great idea and may be a great product for many makes of motorcycles, but it was not an easy fit on my big BMW. To start with, I think the description and photo of the hook on Amazon are inadequate. It should be pictured from both sides and it should be made clear the metal washer is not permanently embedded in the plastic of the hook and actual measurements or dimensions should be provided. Because of the design of the hook and the design & diameter of my handlebars at first I had install the hook facing inward toward the bike. This made for very awkward access to the hook itself and it just looked dumb. Also because of the design of the hook and my handlebar ends the washer in the hook prevented the end weight of the handlebar from fully slipping down into its proper position on the handlebar after the hook was in place. Because of this, the socket head machine screw that holds the end weight (and the hook) in place could not fully thread into the end of the handlebar. I mean maybe an eighth of an inch was all it could screw in - and that seemed way too tenuous a grip to me. I was afraid that in the not too distant future that screw would vibrate loose and fall out while I was riding and that my bar end weight would go flying off. Not a good thing. Long story short, because I wanted this thing to work, I drove around until I found a hardware store that stocked a socket head screw that was a good deal longer than the one BMW originally used on my handlebar. That allowed me to get the hook really secured to the bike AND facing outward, but this left a very noticeable gap between the back of the hook and the outer edge of my hand grip. So I removed the hook for the tenth time, slid two big, black rubber O rings over the end of my handlebar to try to disguise the gap and then re-attached the hook and screwed on the bar end weight. Looks decent now, is on tight, holds my helmet well - but it was a hassle to get it on (mostly) right. With my installation the hook does not / cannot swing or pivot around the handlebar at all. It occurs to me this might make it easier to get helmet on or off hook. But that's not an option for me. In closing, the 2 holes drilled in the hook to receive a lock are 2 different diameters: why? I'd call them small and smaller. Rather than search high and low for a lock that might fit this odd feature of the hook, I just drilled the holes out to fit a standard Master padlock I already had in the garage. It took me $50 worth of time and effort to install a $15 hook, and now I'm happy with it - but on a BMW k 1600 it is not a five minute installation. Perhaps on another bike it would be. Giving more detailed photos and dimensions on Amazon might help prospective buyers figure out if the helmet hook is right for their bike before they purchase.
