Yellow Mountain Imports American Mahjong Set, Elemental with Aluminum Case - All-in-One Racks with Pushers, Scoring Coins, Dice, and Wind Indicator

I am a new but enthusiastic player and had my eye on a few different sets that my friends own. I decided on this Elemental set for a number of reasons, including the aluminum case, but mostly because of the style of the pushers. Magnetized, they cling to the racks, and--because the magnet on the left end is stronger--the pushers behave as if hinged when pushing out your wall. Even better, with very slight pressure, you can "detach" the pusher completely in order to push your wall all the way to the center of the table. Absolutely brilliant! I was surprised by how nice and compact the case is, as I think I expected something much larger in overall size. It is certainly as cool looking as I hoped. When you first open it, take a moment to note how everything is packed and you won't have any problem repacking at the end of a game. I am really looking forward to using it and highly recommend it. (FWIW, I found it at the manufacturer's site for a bit less, but the cost of shipping put it over the top of what I paid on Amazon with my free Prime shipping.)

We played our first games yesterday. We really like the wood racks and pushers, so easy to move out walls, remove a pusher to square up a wall that's getting crooked. Also really like the strong metal case with shoulder strap. The only "demerit" for me is the tile design. I do not like it as well as the tile set used when I learned to play. But I will get used to soon. One positive is the 1 birdie bam tile--it resembles an owl, easily recognizable. With the other set the more elaborate birdie bam can be confused with a flower. Another thing I like are the white tiles. I don't like ivory tiles as well. All in all Very pleased with this set!

Given as a gift, and I have no idea what this game is all about, so it's difficult for me to say it is a 5 star - but quite possibly. The recipient expresses much satisfaction with it. Only exception is that the picture showed a hinged appearing apparatus with the pushers, which is specifically what the recipient was looking for, and it turned out this set doesn't include that. The pushers are magnetic and the recipient said "That works fine." The case is attractive enough, durable shoulder strap and very protective though a bit heavy for an elderly person to carry around. The game inside the case is securely packaged and well protected when not in use. The recipient reports that the game pieces are both attractive and durable, easy to use.

This was a very nice set. The wood pushbacks were included in the set and have magnets to hold the 2 pieces together. The simplicity of the design makes packing them away easy. The tiles are nice and the case is very sturdy. This was a good value, especially for the money I paid and the pushbacks were included.

Love everything about it. The case is attractive and very protective. Love the design of the tiles - the one bam is a little different than other sets I've seen and I really like it. It can't be confused with a flower for novice players, mostly I like the wooden racks and pushers, really classy. I looked around a lot before buying and for the price, it is beautiful. heavy but beautiful. Of course all full size sets are heavy.

This Mahjongg set is perfect. Bought as gift for my daughter, a new player. I am so jealous because it is so much nicer than my old set. Love the way the racks w/pushers are stored. Absolutely a great value for money.

The set arrived on time and in excellent condition. I am pleased with the quality. I chose this set because the racks are made of wood instead of the usual plastic. It comes with matching pushers which are extremely useful items and are not standard with most sets. I also chose this set because it omits the 4-pronged metal bettors that are attached to most plastic racks. In asking around, most people never use them so they just add unnecessary bulk.

this is a high quality product and I am glad I chose it. The extra jokers and blank tiles come in handy. We use more jokers when we play to make it easier for beginners and shorten the games. The tiles are attractive and brightly painted. The wooden pushers and racks are much nicer than the plastic ones I have seen in other sets. The case is well made with sturdy hardware. It does not come with cards.

Read other reviews. The protective film comes off easily. Place tiles in warm water, wait a bit and the film rubs off. Slight error made in shipping but Yellow Mountain rectified the problem immediately. Great company to deal with.

The case is fantastic, feels like a very high quality product. Unfortunately the tiles are smaller and lighter than I expected. The plastic wrap around the dice had also crumbled, so it must have been sitting around for a very long time.
