500 Miles of South Lake Tahoe Hikes: Peaks, Day Hikes, and Overnighters

I like everything about this guidebook but think the quality of the maps and photos could be better. They both seem a bit dark and lacking in contrast. I like the topics covered in the introduction and the grouping of hikes into distinct areas. I realize that using just one map for each area saved on the number of pages in the book, but a detailed map of each hike would be helpful. That said, I like the author's succinct and lively approach as well as the many useful tips he gives.

A fantastic practical guide to 500 miles of wonderful hikes in Tahoe! The book is easy to navigate with very helpful tips and suggestions specific to each hike. Do you have a dog and want to know which trails are best for them? Not sure which permits are needed or where to get them? What do you do if you encounter some of the magnificent wildlife? Hussmann will provide you with all the answers and resources needed. This guide opens the door to a beautiful world in the mountains and encourages you to discover the vast amount it has to offer. A must have for anyone who has the chance to explore Lake Tahoe.

This is a fantastic trail guide! I love that it doesn't provide too much irrelevant detail, and instead gets right to the point. The hike descriptions are well-written and easy to follow. I'd recommend this as the best resource to new hikers and long time locals alike!
