.co.uk On his first solo album, former New Kid Jordan Knight turns in a surprisingly stylish record that, though hardly unflawed, makes a convincing case for him as a grownup pop singer in the tradition of George Michael. (Or perhaps that of Robert Palmer, to whom Knight bears a remarkable vocal resemblance. Of course, Palmer hasn't been this with-it since the new-wave days of Clues.) The R&B stylings of the disc's first few numbers make for its most convincing music; "A Different Party" could actually draw a crowd to the dance floor. Less successful, if well-enough sung, are the ballads that fill most of the second half's space. It's a relief when a lively but pedestrian 95 South remix of the first cut, "Give It to You", appears at the end. Still, Jordan Knight should earn its namesake some of the cred he obviously wishes for. --Rickey Wright

Not such a New Kid....
I bought this album in 1999 and I haven't stopped playing it since! it has everything from dance tracks "Give it to you" and "A different party" to the ballads we came to love from Jordan "Broken by you" a heart felt love song show cases Jordans vocal talents, each song on this album shows he has matured from his days with NKOTB, his voice is soulful whilst singing "Close my eyes" Jordan also remade Princes "I could never take the place of your man" slowing down the song, showing us just what an amazing song this is. This is a must have for any music lover, do not be close minded to the fact he was in NKOTB because you will truly be missing out.

Absolutely gorgeous!
Jordan Knight's first solo offering was more than worth the wait. It's an album I play over and over again. It is a mixture of soft, slow ballads and faster, catchy tunes, all with his trademark golden voice. My favourite songs are A Different Party, Don't Run, Separate Ways and When You're Lonely. Forget Jordan the New Kid. This is Jordan the Man!

You have GOT to check this out!!!
This is Jordan's first solo offering since his split from NKOTB in `94, and while I think NK fans will enjoy the ballads, I have to say that this album is so far beyond NKOTB stuff in quality it's unreal! Jordan's shown himself to definitely be the major talent in the group as this album went platinum! Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis helped produce much of the album too, which speaks for itself to the quality! The first single released from the album was "Give It To You" which was a top ten hit the world over in `99. It's a raunchy upbeat tune you can't help dancing to and the video's choreography by Darrin Hensen is outstanding! Jordan's dancing skills are stunning on the video, and more so live! Most of the remainder of the album, aside from a funky dance number "A Different Party", shows off Jordan's amazing vocal skills in several incredible ballads, particularly in my opinion the beautiful "Change My Ways" (co-written by Robin Thicke), "Close My Eyes" (really original sound to this track, it would have been a hit if it had been released I'm sure!), "Seperate Ways" (a real smooth tear jerker) and "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" which is actually a cover of a Prince song, but slowed down to a heart tugging soulful pace you can't help but sing along with! The other ballads on the album are just as stunning, but those are my favourite! All in all I reckon everyone should give this album a go! Think US version of George Michael rather than ex-New Kid and you'll love it!!

Give It To Us again cuz this is fantastic!
Not only does this album stink of Jordans talent from every angle imaginable, it includes Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Robin Thicke to help out in the production.Jordan's first studio album back in 1999 is fantastic! it includes love songs which aren't your normal depressing ones that go on about how hard it is when you break up and suck you in to the point of insanity, this is the total opposite. "Finally Finding Out", "Close My Eyes", "When You're Lonely" or even "Change My Ways do just that. They take you through the happy times of love, relationships, there ups and downs making you feel good throughout not all depressed and wishing you had not turned it on. With "Give It To You" it shows Jordan in a completely different light, showing the more daring and sexy Jordan, this song has to have the best dance routine ever know to man, especially live...let me tell you!."A Different Party" is a happy feel good summertime sort of song that just makes you want to dance, no matter your mood. Next up is the soulful version of "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" which puts a completely different twist on the original by Prince. This is a must for all avid New Kids/Jordan fans especially but, everyone should check this out. Jordan does deserves a bit more appreciation and recognition cause he is so underrated when it comes to his writing and production skills, when you have them they need to be addressed and Jordan did exactly that. I am so proud myself of this album and I am sure Jordan feels the same.thumbs up! : D
