Everything you want to know about the Wines of France, for less than the price of a good bottle.
Buying books about wine is a bit like buying wine. At one time I didn't want to spend more than a fiver on a bottle or on a book . But after the encyclopaedias and beginners guides have given you the superficial overview, and you want something with serious depth, Lewin 's master work is what you need. Lewin drills down deep, cites discussions with named vignerons on their differing views, superb insights into the forces behind French winemaking today, at the producer level. Lewin has all the facts and figures at the fingertips, and the sheer concentration on France alone means no pages wasted on topics of no interest, like the up and coming wines of Uruguay and East Timor. An understanding of the Wines of France in expert detail, a lifetime of accumulated knowledge, is yours for no more than the price of one good bottle of wine. Essential, and a bargain.
