Does this have the same print failure problem as the tft35 v3.0? randomly stopping while still powering extruder/bed.

I’ve never seen that issue. I’ve only run into the overheating x axis driver. Amazon replaced it immediately when it happened.

Does this work with ender 5 pro silent board, or do i need the bigtreetech board as well?

This screen can work with stock boards, BTT mainboard is NOT a requirement. You can run it in marlin mode and connect just the display ribbon cables. If your board happens to have a serial connection available, you can connect the TFT as well, just be mindful of the pins. In TFT mode, the screen just sends GCode like any other terminal interface would.

Ender 3 pro, already installed a mini e3 v2 board. is the tft e3 v3.0 pretty much just plug and play now? running marlin 2.0.7.2

It is as close to plug and play as it gets. If you watch some of TeachingTech's videos on Youtube, he shows exactly what needs to be done to properly install and configure the screen.
